>Por’ui said the rumours must mean that Farsight’s people had set up colonies out in the gulf, in an area the Aun normally forbade the Tau ships to enter. He reckoned that without the guidance of the Aun they were in danger of regressing to barbarism, ‘The terror’ he called it, like before the Aun came, when each caste was set against the others and would fight to dominate each other instead of simply working together for the greater good. I said that in a set-up like that I couldn’t see as how it could be anything other than Fire caste in charge, and he said if Farsight had wanted it that way he would have made it like that. Well, Por’ui seemed really upset at the idea of the Fire warriors running the show, and kept saying as how they’d want nothing but war all the time.

Farsight is no better than the Orks he fights against.

>Considering that Farsight was officially excommunicated from the Tau Empire in near the year 997

Do you have a source on that? While I don't believe any exact dates exist for Farsight's desertion, the original Tau codex estimates it to be around 760.M41, and the current one has a quote about how teaming up with aliens is gay attributed to Farsight in 765.M41. Additionally, the War of Dakka page in the Ork codex has these lines:

>One exception is Waaagh! Grog, a crusade of vengeance that extended deep into the territory of the renegade Tau commander Farsight.

>Grog encountered even fiercer resistance as he penetrated the Farsight enclave in the north of the Tau Empire.

>Seems that Farsight was a big hero to the Tau, fought off two big Ork invasions and helped fight against the Imperial crusade two centuries back. When the crusade was over, Farsight took an expedition out to the edge of the empire to recolonise some lost outposts, one of them at what he called an ‘artefact world’ at the edge of Damocles gulf. Something happened when the expedition was there, apparently a message-boat came back saying there was fighting but it seemed confused about who the enemy was. Worse still, the Aun with the expedition had been killed, but there was no word of by what. After that Farsight had apparently gone on to fight off another Ork invasion threatening the empire but he never came back, and there was no more word of what had become of the expedition. Now I’ve seen enough Fire warriors and Tau ships to know that’d be bad for everyone. I know you’ve got the ear of the Imperials, Ossneous, and I think you’d better let them know double quick that there’s something bad brewing in the Damocles gulf.”

We barely know anything about the enclaves. All there is to go on really are the rules and this quote:

“Each must find their own way. If those in our heartland had witnessed the savageries of the void as have we they would know this. The hand of each of the great starfarers is turned against the other; none will join their strength together just to see their ancient enemies prosper. Neither should we.”

>Farsight's only crime was to disagree with the ruling party, the Ethereals.
He set up his own colonies in forbidden space and broke off contact with the empire, refusing to return. He is seemingly fighting for personal gain, a deserter who goes against everything the Tau Empire stands for.

This quote does not indicate that he abandoned the Greater Good, only that he disagrees with the ''peaceful ways'' of the Celestials.

Farsight was always an aggressive hot blooded Shas. Perhaps he decided he will further the cause of the Greater Good in his way without the politics and reins of the Aun.

''They got ded big shooty guns dat'll kill tons of boyz, but if yer can get near em den you've got a chance. Just gotta make sure you bring loads of boyz, coz you ain't gonna have a whole lot left when you get close enough ta crump em''

-Warlord Skamork

>What do Orks think of the Tau

Aggravating. The Tau unwillingness to humor the Orks in the savageries of close combat coupled with their superior mobility, tactics, and firepower, makes the Tau a frustrating opponent for the ''Boyz''.

However, amazingly an Orkish chieftain named Grog Ironteef managed to figure out a way to counter this and beat the Tau in their own game.

Farsight was already bitter and disillusioned even before he found the Dawn Blade. Who knows, maybe he killed his force's Ethereals himself.

>TIDF appears to be equivilant to that one star wars guy who argues that midichlorians is totally cool and makes sense.

You did not just do that, Gue'la, Oh no you did not.

>there leauges off what other factions have including the Orks.

When the Orks can out ''Dakka'' us, then we will talk.

Before you bring up the War of Dakka. No, that war does not count. The Orks stole our GEAR and WEAPONS then used it against us (How these savages figured out how to use and handle our superior Technology is a mystery). They used our advantage against us. Very impressive for simple barbarians, Indeed you should never underestimate an Ork.

Come to think of it. The War of Dakka is not the failing of the Tau Empire. It is Farsight's failure. Since he is no longer a member of the Tau Empire, the fault of the escalation of that
war falls squarely on him alone.

I enjoy it when things work themselves out.

>Farsight Enclaves
Something I don't get: the War of Dakka page in the Ork codex refers to Farsight as renegade and the embattled territory as the enclaves, which only became known as such after Farsight's desertion. Yet it also seems to treat them as part of the Empire - the Tau high command even attempt to evacuate Farsight. Am I missing something or did Phil Kelly just derp on this one?
