I've always felt these two systems need to be gloriously united.

I haven't actually read this one yet. Seems like I should, given how interesting the title is.

You disgrace the KGB's good name by calling their agents "hobos", comrade. You may wish to think before speaking such thoughts in the future.

You know what /tg/ needs? A one-page rpg thread.

Also, hugs.

Well, Hackmaster I guess.

Tome of Magic for DnD might be interesting if you want to get your truenaming on. (Or vestiges I suppose, if you want a less broken system.)

Dive Into The Sky to complete your collection of /tg/ homebrew...

Heck, maybe Old School Hack? It's a pretty fun system, if a tad lightweight.

Oh yeah, you don't seem to have any one-page RPGs on that list. I don't have d02 or anything, but here, have Drunken Bear Fighter.

Pic related. You can also try Totem or Summerland.

D&D 3.5 is too gamist for first-timers, it might cause your players to turn into automatons with dice.

I come to you, elegan/tg/entlemen, with a small problem that I imagine can be solved my a hivemind of experience and RPG knowledge.

Me and a few friends are going to start a new campaign in a week or so. I have ideas for characters and plot and whatnot laid out, I just need to make sure that the rules I am using are appropriate. They're all expecting an oldschool swords and sorcery setting (meaning magic) but also don't want to spend more than a few minutes learning the rules. I have settled on using the Drunken Bear Fighter engine, and just moving it into the setting of generic Forgotten Realms-esque Land. I now just need to make the rules accommodate magic missiles and fireballs, and it is for this reason that I have turned to /tg/.

tl;dr how do I use DBF rules to let the PCs cast magic spells?
