God creating humans to resemble him does make sense if you combine it with the theory of evolution. If we assume that "man" isn't literally a man, just his FAR descendant (up to the very first particles), then it makes sense. How, you ask? God is everywhere, right? God has no form, right? That would imply that he is MATTER. Generally, matter. So the ancient beliefs that the world we live in is God, would be correct too.
