I thought it was zoology. She had a friend Harriet who would sometimes post, said she had problems and was on medication. Someone once found her fb page and posted all the pics and her phone number.

Well its not that easy. You mean like taking high carbohydrate foods like corn and wheat and just physically putting nutrients into them?

I dont know the specifics, but I have heard a lot of people criticize the effectiveness of vitamin supplements. Just adding the literal chemicals to food doesnt necessarily mean we absorb them.

But again I dont know.

I do know, that people for milenia have been able to grow nutritious food everywhere in almost every region on this earth. There is no reason why starving Africans couldnt grow or forage all the calories and nutrients they need in the right conditions. I presume there are social, political, and economic factors that keep people from doing so.

>> No.5011039 [View]

Almost nobody "starves." Everyone gets enough calories.

When we see these sickly stick like children on TV/internet they are suffering from malnutrition.

I think this is the consequence of modern countries developing high carbohydrate diets. In general, its healthy to have a lot of nutrients per calorie. But you have certain nutrition requirements. In modern rich nations we have to eat a lot of calories to meet those requirements and thus we get fat. But that same food gets exported everywhere, whether as aid or just sold, and these foreigners just dont get enough nutrients to survive.

Then astronomy isnt a science? Or Geology?

Behavioral econ seems to be getting more and more popular all the time.

Well he is a psychologist. I dont believe he looked at the physical brain.

Here is a bunch of his work:

Oh.

._.

>> No.5002019 [View]

>>5002013

Why?

There are a lot of legitimate psychologists. I know a professor who did some interesting work regarding how people track moving objects in 3D space.

If anything I feel uncomfortable listing sociology with econ and psyche. Sociology has so much bullshit. As far as I can tell its 100% bullshit unless you start using the loosest definition of "sociology"

>> No.5002005 [View]

Science is just a use of inductive reasoning. We look at reality, and see if data from reality confirms or defeats hypotheses.

So I think economics, sociology, psychology count. However, a lot of these fields can be contaminated by bullshit, or just opinions, or faulty experiments.

I think I once read the Prince. I cant remember the specifics of what he had to say.

I think its true that authority must be granted to certain qualified individuals. Even to the extent that their opinion might have to over ride the involved parties who might disagree. I dont know to what extent Machiavelli holds his beliefs.

To appreciate Machiavelli is not something to disrespect.

Well, I mean, I have my friend who expressed skepticism. And I just mentioned Freeman Dyson who spent years studying climatology. Those are two people who have doubts that humans are contributing to the current warming.

Of the scientists I know, I dont think they are beyond being opinionated. I dont think they are invulnerable to being wrong, or partial, and given how politicized it is I dont necessarily trust anyone.

>> No.4997315 [View]

>>4997262

Well, I would rely on a climatologist. But I dont mean to imply there arent people knowledgeable.

Freeman Dyson came to my university recently and expressed the following sentiment. A climatologist friend of mine said the same thing. Both of them expressed that its unfortunate how effect politics is at clouding the truth.

I bet we can discover the truth on global warming. I dont mean to imply there arent those who have. I just cant know who to believe.

>>4997288

How do you know its real?

>> No.4997258 [View]

>>4997225

Well if its truly so obvious that there is a honest side and dishonest side in this debate than there is no need for OP to express his opinions since the truth is already evident.

I am not saying all opinions are equal, or deserve respect. But regardless of who perpetuated a political controversy I dont believe the truth is obvious to normal people like you or I.

>> No.4997193 [View]

Why are we talking about sides and middle grounds? Or opinions? Why dont we just talk about the truth, and in the absence of truth, we reserve judgement.

Perhaps it would equalize as you descend. I dont know a lot about this, but I can guess it wouldnt be immediate. Like, when you go into a higher altitude your ears pop because pressure is suddenly equalizing.

>> No.4993575 [View]

The water/stuff inside you has a pressure. And it would need to equalize with the pressure outside of the body. So if it cant equalize it will crush you.
