I get your point, but you mean perigee, or periapsis, not perihelion. No one is starting from the surface of the Sun.

The identity of the year is a social construct.
Astronomically, you could pick the starting point at perihelion, at aphelion, at an equinox, or at a solstice. And since the apsides and the nodes precess at different rates, this also makes a difference in very long-term year counts.

It probably doesn't have an evolutionary advantage, as evolution entails that those who have traits that best suit their surrounding environment will survive. That said, since humans don't have many things that will kill them, a lot more spandrels with strange fetishes can survive.

“Is it directionally dependent”

No- RNA polymerase can only read DNA in the 3’ - 5’ direction.

“Does mirroring it along the axis of travel in between stop codes cause a different result?”

DNA is just a molecule, “it” alone doesn’t do anything but remain suspended within the nuclear fluid of the cell. Proteins are what ultimately leads to protein expression - RNA helicase is what transcribes the molecule, and as I’ve already said it can only read in one direction.

“then how is the direction of travel determined or forced”

The inherent stereospecificity of the molecules that read DNA, and the antiparallel molecule itself. The nucleosides consist of 1 of 4 nucleobases. The sugar bonds to a phosphate group which binds to another nucleoside, creating a repeating chain. These two chains of repeating nucleotides can only bond via hydrogen interactions, however the only viable arrangement which allows this is if one string is anti-parallel to the other.

“and the phenotype is more of result of probabilities rather than strict determinism?”

It’s both. Gene expression is regulated for the most part ie: There’s a reason why neurons dont move like muscle cells, and why the brain doesn’t produce it’s own insulin. Certain genes are “turned off” in certain cells, allowing for the cell to actively exhibit a single role, despite the fact that every cell of an organism has the same genome.

“My limited understanding and intuition says everything boils down to probability”

That’s a very silly assumption to make, because life and the study of it are well understood. In the past two decades alone, we’ve made tremendous progress in the study of genetics and protein expression.

If you are curious in the subject, I’d recommend Cambells Biology Textbooks found on amazon. There’s nothing I’ve said in my explanation that didn’t come straight from there, and it only scratches the surface.

I mean.... It's functional? It has a decent amount of exercises, however there are segments which I feel aren't well explained. Some chapters throw definitions at you, and the exercises seem impossible, other times everything is well explained and the exercises are trivial.

Im mixed

It matters a lot in the music community due to how tuning to 440 Hz is the modern standard however 432 Hz stimulates the right brain more, leading to more creativity.

Also the "modern standard" of 440 Hz was suggested by Nazis but that just might be conspiracy hogwash
