Let me rephrase then: What is most fundamental to understanding Physics barring Mathematics?

Still didn't answer the second question, if I'm not being picky.

What is the best way to learn?
What is the best way to approach a problem?

Can't say I'm "polymath" material, but my indecisiveness makes me want to do this. Of course, "polymath" is not a degree, so I'll have to choose eventually.

>Why do I have to be IN the US to apply to go in the US? Isn't that catch 22 or something?

No, when you express interest in being naturalized you're considered "on visa", like a student visa or a business visa.

>I'll look into the details though but I have a feeling you are right.
My future is bleak :(

I hate to be the asshole here man :c
I'll try and help in what way(s) I can.

>Can't I just trade myself? They send 10 rednecks or fat basement dwellers out and they let me in? I'd do a lot of good things and work hard for glorious USA.

Nope :V

In any case; I'm sure you'll do fine man, if you're really hot stuff with your education then your (American) employer will probably help you through the whole process, again, do your own research, there could be a lot I'm leaving out.

Don't ask me man, arbitrary waiting period. Hell, if you're male, without a wife or child, and have no useful skills, they can out-right refuse you. The real bitch of it? You have to be *in* the US to begin the wait period.

In any case, I'd still look into specifics and whatnot before you quote me on everything. I don't know a bunch of details with the system, just general facts.

There's a good possibility. Though you'll have to deal with our naturalization system, which is clunky to say the least, so forget that whole "instantly" bit. Kinda weird how our immigration system works (had to write a paper on it once.) but the time it takes to complete differs based on if you have family here, if you're marrying an American, what sort of education you have, your gender, how many children you have, etc etc etc. IIRC mostly there's a 5 year waiting period for the whole thing, and the test(s) themselves are actually pretty easy. You just have to memorize trivial things like "Which president signed the New Deal?" or "How many senators are assigned to each state?"

Honestly I still have problems with it, but that's what you're looking at if you want to lawfully immigrate over here. If you want to be an illegal you're probably not going to be able to peruse anything scientific, much less have your schooling/experience recognized by people here.

>top universities in Taiwan offer free master's education to foreigners

Seems to good to be true. Probably a ploy to kill people that bother them.

>full tuition paid

You already said it was free.

>monthly living allowance (plus tip)

How much? Some colleges here in the US do that, but it's lower than minimum wage and you can't do much with it.

>get nearer to north Asians (sucks being in the monkey south, we all look like monkeys)

Work on that self-confidence.

>dat Taiwanese pussy

Fair enough.
>could learn Cantonese and Mandarin in my 2 years there (that would look delicious on my resume, assuming China controls the world in the next 5 years)

>implying the Chinese won't economically collapse when the US/UK/EU does thus losing their monopoly over McDonald's toys.

>i can finally taste snow for the first time in my life
>can take a break in great Hong Kong

Those mite b cool.

All in all, you still need to make sure they don't kill you. Practice some Combatives or something.

It sounds shallow, but every time I hear about a story like this, the whole "child prodigy" schtick, I kinda wish they'd die prematurely, or never have a significant other, or pretty much go broke as soon as their popularity dies. I wish I were more or less born smart, like some of these people were. Then again Confucius himself admitted he wasn't born intelligent either, so maybe there is some hope.

Not trying to be pessimistic here, but, there seems to be a lot of "science woo" in this thread. Cryogenics, wormholes, FTL, etc.

I suppose they could be possible, but it just sounds silly for whatever reason.

Well that's certainly inspiring.

>>4569372

Right, though I do, and always have had a problem with focus. This effects pretty much everything save for vidya and the internet of course. I'd ask for advice, but I feel it would be out of place on /sci/,

Anything aside from Khan Academy and what's in the sticky that would help me? I've heard reading Euclid's Elements helped, but I think that's just for understanding math in general (though that still sounds beneficial)

Alrighty /sci/,

How realistic is it to learn mathematics in your spare time and test out of a class? Specifically going from Trig, skipping Pre-Cal, and going straight into Calculus 1.

Already got the God complex down, so you sound pretty fit to be a doctor :D

In all seriousness though, I'd go for it. Try and make some of the transhumanism woo into reality.

>> No.4549003 [View]

The way ya'll phrase all this makes it seem like there's really no big pay off to any of this, and that, like animators or something, you only do it because you really, REALLY, enjoy it. Needless to say I'm discouraged by this. Seems like much ado over nothing at the moment.

>> No.4543164 [View]

Well, I'm done with the trig test. Still don't know how I did but I probably failed it. Any and all advice is welcome to unmake my retardation.

>> No.4542569 [View]

>>4542547

Yes, I do. Or rather the homework checks itself, but on top of that I do *many* similar problems, to try and understand the concept better, and it has helped I will say. It's probably as >>4542553 says and I'm not trying hard enough. I talked with my math teacher about this, she said that because I had no difficulty with math in high school, that I never really learned how to study. Which would make sense if the studying I did for the chemistry test I took yesterday was passing.

Though if you wouldn't mind mentioning some of those types of problems, I'd be grateful. I'm not sure how much it will do, but I've got half an hour before school, so I might as well give it a shot.

>> No.4542546 [View]

>>4542541

And I can't argue with that, but I still have no idea how I'm going to pass these classes. Much less get into a nice school afterwards, since they all seem to be uptight about GPA's and whatnot.

>> No.4542523 [View]

>>4542157

I see your point, but since there was a time where I didn't even study the material outside of doing the homework, and now that I am studying, I'm making grades that are virtually the same, it's a tad difficult to be optimistic.
