Wouldn't using encryption be more practical? Anyway, The design of the electromagnet is only 1/3 of the story, you still need a large current source and a way to make the field fluctuate.

Breast milk has some secrets that are only beginning to be understood. I recall reading that it contains a large amount of sugars not digestible by the infant. It is thought that these sugars are meant to feed our symbiotic bacteria.

Melanin is a polymer.... I do believe it is unwise to mess with chemicals strong enough to destroy it. Perhaps they should just stay out of direct sunlight or live with what they got....

yup yup. I assume Virgin galactic is simply keeping their designs under wraps. I hope they can build a space shuttle sized White knight III. I also came across this Skylon spaceplane design. It looks interesting, but they don't seem to have good funding. Basically, I suspect rockets have been played out; there are not many ways to make them better or more efficient. But space planes are still very new, it's hard to tell if they would be better without many years of development. The space shuttle was more of a rocket really, a large proportion of the fuel is burnt up just to achieve lift off.

I'm really hoping for the development of viable spaceplanes. Shouldn't we develop something other than more rockets?

Well, I'm pretty convinced that the US is screwed. They just don't know it yet. I've been checking out Peter Schiff's analysis. It's very interesting and depressing.

I've been more supportive of Virgin galactic, but Space X seems to be in the lead now.

Yes the pressure in the container would be very low. But it is extremely difficult to freeze out all the gas molecules due to thermodynamic reasons.

Hmmm i used this table

In which Germany has a much smaller industrial contribution to GDP than china... weird discrepancy...

Yeah, keeping Berdanke and Larry Summers may have been a terrible error. Guantanamo bay is still open...
This looks interesting

Also, I think the Pentagon has never intended to remove all the troops from Iraq. Iraq simply becomes like Korea and Japan, another country with US bases...

source for statistics? I tried to check out the industrial output, seems that the US has roughly the industrial output of China + Germany.

It's not fair to say that Obama hasn't done anything, of course. He's doing a good job in getting loose nuclear material. It's also sad that many of his successes are perceived as failures.

That done and said, is there any doubt at all that Julian Assange deserves to be person of the year? The existence of organizations will force governments to deal in fewer immoral activities. In the long run, I suspect he'll have a fair chance to win a nobel peace prize too.

Too bad they didn't get any Top Secret classified documents. I find it hard to imagine why some people object to wikileaks on principle. I think they have an interesting role to play, to check and balance in this increasingly undemocratic world. However, it might have been wise to be more discriminating on which documents to reveal. I hope there won't be too much trouble in Yemen.
