Does the impulse toward revenge - even petty vengeance that does no lasting harm to the target - have any evolutionary basis? Why are humans satisfied by taking "justice" for past wrongdoings invisibly, merely discomforting the target rather than killing them or preventing them from reproducing?

Is there a way to calculate the largest rectangle that can be inscribed in a circle of 1580 pixels, given a fixed 7 / 5 ratio of width to length?

Dust explosions, I read, are caused by igniting particles with a high surface-area-to-volume ratio. But why does rapidly burning all that dust cause an explosion?

Need engineering advice.

I have a shaped piece of sheet metal that's hooked up to a measuring machine. Four points of the sheet metal need to be flush against a skew surface to be scanned. Right now 3 sides are flush and 1 is bent up.

I can apply up to 21.8 N of force to flatten it and take the measurement, but I don't have any tool that does that. The surface is 5 feet up and can't be moved, and the point under the bent-up metal is a solid surface that's already been measured.

Is there a tool that can apply that pressure and attach to the solid surface in some way? I could build a spring assembly and patent it if there isn't.

Turns out two relatives I thought were 2nd cousins are actually 1st cousins...according to dna testing kit company 23andme.

This means either the data is so inconclusive it confuses my granduncle for my grandfather; or this means my granduncle screwed my grandma. It was shocking to see the results. Could it just be inconclusive info? The Family Tree option is in the beta phases, but maybe the company should put it on the backburner. Otherwise this is going to year families apart. I deleted my account and I ain't saying shit.

The compilation I posted has several examples of academic studies on supplements. Aside from folic acid during pregnancy, they don't show consistent health benefits. Some helped, some harmed. I'm not convinced they're worth buying, but nor do I have conclusive evidence to stop people from blowing thousands of dollars a year on the medical equivalent of birthstones.

Someone help. I have no justification to stop people I care about from buying supplements. I've heard they are useless, but I can't find sufficient evidence to prove either side. A routine Internet search just brings up a wall of pseudo-news "Are Vitamins Really Useful?" articles and no links to primary sources. The best I could do is

and I couldn't find anything on fatty acid or probiotics.

I bought pic related but I'm unable to see anything when I'm looking at the moon. I've adjusted it every way and there's nothing blocking the lens. It didn't even come with a tripod.
I figured some of you might be able to help.

This is a leaf-nosed bat. Evolution has given it convex lips and forehead to aid with echolocation.

If you were creating a synthetic face for a bat, would it be optimal for echolocation if it were dish-shaped?

Stupid, in college because it's just expected of middle class and higher, general disinterest, used to things just werking, mental disability, anxiety, depression, addiction, forgot you registered for a class, professor is gay so can't bear going to his class, illness, etc
