When is scientific notation ever used outside of science? Occasionally in economics, other than that, never. When they graduate grade 10 general science most people never encounter scientific notation ever again, so while it is simple, people just forget it.

Well I would buy an apartment complex near my uni and rent it out at rock bottom prices to students. I would then be able to spend years getting several doctorates without any money troubles, at which point I would begin my own research program with as many neuroscientists, computer scientists, medical doctors, psychologists, and misc. Robotic Engineers and work on uploading the human mind into a computer/creating cyborgs. I wouldn't fund it all personally of course, only until we got some real results (perhaps doing it to a mouse) at which point money would likely start pouring in from old rich people who don't want to die.
