Active meaning it has plenty of returning users that post semi-regularly.

I've gotten other compliments on the current theme, which is why it's the active one. You can easily change it, though, just click "Burichan" in the top-right for a more /sci/ feel, and "Futaba" for /r9k/ and other boards.

Yeah man, check out the sticky in /sug/ for more info. We got all kinds of new upgrades, and no (known) bugs anymore.

It's quite apparent that the mods on /sci/ don't give two halves of a flying fuck about the site. From this obvious neglect, SciChan was born.

http://scichan.org/

SciChan has had a slow startup, but thanks to a recent host upgrade we're on our feet and the site is faster than ever. SciChan is an active, troll-free imageboard much like /sci/, but SciChan branches out into different collections of science. We feature /asci/ and /nsci/ as our most active boards, filled to the brim with sweet, juicy science.

Post your thoughts on the subject here. Check the site out, and join the fun!

I'd talk to them about why they think it sucks, and take their suggestions into consideration, and as long as they kept it to a single thread and didn't spam it, I really wouldn't care all that much.

>> No.1283069 [View]

>>1283029
The key here is the moderation filter, where people of /sci/ can go *without* the trolls.

>>1283042
Thanks for your suggestion, I'll certainly take it into consideration.

Evolution =/= Science vs. Religion. You're free to discuss Evolution in SciChan.

atm the only bans we've had are obvious trolls, people from /b/ and whatnot. If that's not the case, hit me up with an email and I'll look into it ASAP.

It's a bug that we've been dealing with lately, if you try again it should work. It happens when you visit a page at the same time someone posts.

This.

I laughed. Really hard. I make two threads letting users know of a place to post if they're pissed about moot not doing shit about the trolls, and you get angry enough to try to organize a raid against the site. I'm not spamming, I'm just letting /sci/ know with one thread (two threads total, one when site first launched and one now). I think you're funny.

About the layout comment, see

I'm a frequenter of /sci/, and I hate to see it overrun with trolls. SciChan is simply an outlet for people to discuss Science and the like without trolls getting in the way. Moderation is lenient and completely anonymous, the focus on moderation is to delete/ban obvious troll threads, not to keep people from discussing what they wish to discuss.

Because imageboards are totally unique to 4chan.

This. At the moment, we can't have very many boards, as there simply aren't enough users. At the moment they're divided up based on level of application, and I think that's going pretty well so far. When we get up on our feet and going solid this could be a more realistic option for us.

This guy's suggestion is really good, and if we can get it set in place I think it'll be great, and it solves all the worry about separate boards.

bump to counteract said sage. I'm not advertising anywhere else other than this thread, I'm keeping very nicely to one thread and I'm only making a thread like once a day.

The moderation is anonymous and is strictly to filter out trolling and rule-breaking. Everything else we just don't really care about.

This. A thousand times this.

Although the boards had a recent re-organization (so most posts were lost), there were only a couple trolls in the very beginning, and they were instantly taken care of.

>>1282421
A lot of people complain about something not "really" being science, but "applied science". If you have something that fits both /nsci/ and /asci/, don't be afraid to post it in /osci/!

/sci/ is completely overrun with trolling, science vs. religion fuckery, and just general faggotry. The mods have made it very clear that they do not give two halves of a fuck about this board. /sci/borgs need a place to get a sweet, juicy science fix, and SciChan is just the place.

http://scichan.org/

Anonymously moderated (outside of the suggestions board, where users post suggestions that they would like to see the site use), the trolling is at an absolute minimum, if not non-existent. With different boards for different science levels (Raw Science, Applied Science, etc), you can make sure you're in a board to discuss the same content you're skilled in.

There's even a board for games like Powder Toy and Chess!

/sci/, your lack of POWDER TOY threads disturbs me.

Let's start this thread off with this design. The tool - if you can't tell from the picture itself - allows electricity to flow along Y, and then turn on X. However, when electricity flows along X, it does not turn on Y. This is very useful for switches, and things such as number displays (my design of which you will see in my next post).

OUR GOAL: Make this tool as SMALL as possible.
