Baby's first physicalism.

I care greatly. I'm sick of hearing "Its okey when animals go extinct because that's what has happened to 99% of all species that have ever lived".

The Earth has had life on it for a couple billion years. It takes millions of years for a new species to take the place of an extinct one. If we keep up our present rate of extinction there will be no wild animals except cockroaches and jellyfish for the next million years. That's not fucking acceptable.

At the time of the movie the largest known raptor was around the size of a stork or pellican. After the movie was made some larger ones closer to the size depicted were discovered.

My favorite dinosaur is the stegasaurus.

Am I the only one who sees these studies on the potential psychology of astronauts as almost a complete waste of time? A way to pretend you're doing research towards a manned trip to mars when you don't have the budget to develop new space suits, thrusters, habitats, or anything else a mission actually needs.

Yes. In particle accelarators we can smash atoms together to get a new atom with a different number of protons/neutrons. This costs far more money than gold is worth. What we do use this technology for is to produce radioisotopes;which are millions of times more valuable than gold.

Your lungs have cellscalled cilia in them. The function of cilia is to react to irritants and trigger coughing fits to get them out of the lungs. Tobacco smoke paralyzes the cilia so they do not trigger coughing fits. If a heavy smoker does not smoke for a long enough period of time the cilia start reacting to the tar which is persistant in their lungs and person begins coughing.

You are confusing acoustic resonance with magnetic resonance; and are completely wrong about acoustic resonance.

Magnetic resonance is the frequency at which a magnetic field oscillates in an LRC circuit. This is the type of resonance you care about when dealing with radio waves.

Acoustic resonance is physical vibration; ie what a tuning fork does. A 50hz tuning fork isn't going to have any special reaction to a 50hz radio carrier wave because the two principles are not related and a tuning fork is not an LRC circuit.

The ringing you get in your ears after a load noise or shock is the result of physical dammage to the eardrum, not an acoustic signal persisting in your head due to acoustic resonance. Your body is too soft to resonate acoustically.

Your body is not an LRC circuit. We use the principle of magnetic resonance for MRI scanners. Every atom has a different resonance in the megahertz range. Even with the massive oscillating magnetic fields of an MRI scanner tuned to the resonant frequencues of individual elements we do not cause your body to explode.

I'm not the one who brought up causality, you are. Causality is that no effect can preceed it's cause; so no time travel. It does not prevent an event from occuring with no prior cause; which is why quantum entanglement at first glance should make ftl communication possible, but can't be used to transfer information.

An event is an action at a time in a place. An inhability to find a cause and effect relationship between any previous event in the universe and when the radioisotope decayed is not trivial. It means we are dealing with an effect which had no cause.

Not all actions have a preceding cause. The time of death for Schrödinger's cat can't be predicted for this reason.

We have a circular orbit so the Semi-major axis is just the radious. The radious is 5000 km + 6378 km = 11378 km.
[6378 km is Earth's radios]

So from law#3 we know that:
P^2 = 11378^3
So P = 1213 665
So 90% of P is 1092298.5
So 1092298.5 = R^3
R is the new radious from the centre of the planet.

Something allways bothered me about the changelings in DS9. Early on it was established that Odo looked the way he did because he tried to copy the apearance of Mora Pol and did a poor job (pic related).

Then later we meet other changeling who have the same hair style and facial features as Odo. What the fuck; they have no reason to look like that. Maybe when they're with Odo they would want to look sort of like him, but not when hanging out with the Vorta and Jem'Hadar.

Of course we all know the reason is that producers thought the audience wouldn't understand that the other changelings were changelings if they didn't look like Odo, even if that was a massive continuety error.
