Determinism.

The general argument of free will vs. determinism has been going on for god knows how long (hurr durr durr)

A lot of people on this board are emotionally childish with 100-200 level coursework under their belt with inflated egos because they competed with idiots in a class with a very low barrier to entry; they also could simply be trolls.

Ignore them, keep studying what you're passionate about.

major: triple finance, math , economics

career: hopefully a quant or cryptoanalyst with dod or nsa soon

future:

What do you want to accomplish?
Ideally, start up a 50/50 green hedge fund in 5 years (LOL slim chance but w.e.)

What will you end up buying?
Tasty food, art, idk

Where do you want to work/live?
boston, nyc, or cali

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
either mentally insane or incredibly happy and satisfied

His argument is incredibly childish and flawed.

If you try to aim for z=2+ beauty females, a supply demand curve would be more appropriate and obviously his argument would be strengthened since an exponential increase in demand would further reduce his chances.

If you have high standards in terms of sexual selection, you must have traits that are appealing in terms of sexual selection.

Lower your standards or change your individual elasticities with respect to variable traits such as intelligence, personality, etc and you will not be single.

Thank you but I meant any specific reading material for Ito Calculus or Monte Carlo Method. Our intro to num. analysis classes really don't cover those :( and the one guy who knows these two methods is a hermit professor.

>>4388543
You'd be surprised how many mathematicians and engineers enter the quant field. A few chief risk managers and an MIT professor I knew all left to go be quants on wall street.

In b4 someone on /sci/ criticizes their intellectual capacity

Random anon, have you visited MIT yet?

Isn't the intellectual climate there just wonderful? :3

Gonna try this question a second time.

Any financial engineers/quants have any suggested readings/sites on quant material?

Specifically, my Uni doesn't teach anything regarding Ito calculus or the Monte Carlo method.

I'm teaching myself ODE and PDE independently, but I was wondering if anyone could suggest any resources for the former two topics.

Thanks

Is this the same /fit/ troll from a week ago?

Go away, we already concluded between /fit/ and /sci/ that the actualized individual optimizes mind, body and spirit (in a secular sense).

Grow up

> and by leaving the education system, the quality of education diminished yeah?

Absolutely.

Also thanks for letting me know about Gary Becker, I'll definitely read up on him if I have discretionary time.

> How much economics did you study?
Basic micro/macro, intermediate micro/macro, econometrics I and possibly II if I feel like it and don't want to go for a masters in math right away.

Health economics which kinda used intermediate micro/macro theory + Kaiser shit to describe why our health system is fucked and a few other banking/monetary policy econ classes.

It's not my main area of focus but it's definitely interesting and rigorous at the higher levels; I do find that the more I read about economics and incentive structures, the more pissed off I get about the world in general.

I'd rather go hermit mode as an academic in pure mathematics or go as a wall street quant if my desire for jew gold is greater than the opportunity cost of selling my nonexistent soul for corporate america to feed on.

Heading to bed since I have class in 6 hours, but good luck with econometrics. It's a lot of fun and a great/comprehensive course that utilizes a lot of mathematical and statistical rigor.

Basically, pre-feminism out of the population of females, life occupations were limited to three choices on average.

Housewife, nurse, teacher. Obviously (in b4 a bunch of r9k misogyny), we could argue that intellectual capital from the female population was retained in the education system.

Post feminism, the exponential boom of potential career choices that offered much higher compensation and satisfaction resulted in an intellectual outflow.

Guess what? Shit Fuck durp durp durp

Reduction in aggregate intellectual capital (I use that term for convention but you get what I mean).

I wonder what the opportunity cost was in this case.. Intellectual capital outflow from the education system vs a reduction in quality of educators. Meh, used to take econ up to the econometrics level then I got bored

>> No.4345372 [View]

>>4345338

Since you're economics, I assume you've read freakonomics and how feminism resulted in a brain drain in terms of the supply of intellectual power to the education system.

It doesn't take a genius to realize that the way they valuate and incentivize teaching is complete shit.

In finance, we theorize that capital flows to its most efficient uses; as a corollary, the statement that mental/human capital flows to its most efficient uses in terms of compensation is arguably true.

The intelligent individuals become professors, top industry leaders etc.

The lazy shitfucktards become teachers (I know there are outliers, but I speak for the population not the individual).

I haven't yet encountered a contemporary economic theory that gives a possible solution for solving a completely fucked up incentive structure that will further deteriorate quality of education in America.

Sorry for the inane rambling, I've been locked in a library doing math all day and I get grumpy

I really don't care.

Those who seek knowledge/are autodidacts have more plentiful resources available nowadays than ever.

Keep in mind this is just an opinion, but I truly believe that society will become more stratified/polarized as time goes on. Case in point some private high schools are teaching numerical topology whereas public schools are scaling down the rigors of their academic requirements.

Those who have the passion and the inner fire for the sciences will always find a way; it's easier nowadays so it's really just a catalyst for differentiating the thinkers from the idiots.

I never understood the complex or condition where individuals took pride in a group they belonged in.

Oh hey I'm part of (insert category / group name here) thus I should deserve mighty accolades for the characteristics of the population I am in.

It's like the fucking kids at Harvard they got in to make their parents happy and they brag about the most inane shit on the fucking planet; they boast as if they have done much but they really have not contributed ANYTHING to their field to warrant such pomposity.

Achievement is individualized, so why does it make any logical sense to judge others based on predetermined characteristics?

I could pull down my pants and pull out my dick and shout "HURR DURR I TRIPLE FINANCE MATH CS MAJOR" but I prefer humility over being a stupid troll/aspie.

Your behavior epitomizes what Perelman probably fucking hates the most about mathematicians.

"I can't say I'm outraged. Other people do worse. Of course, there are many mathematicians who are more or less honest. But almost all of them are conformists."

You saw a fucking troll chart on 4chan and took it to heart LMAO. I really feel bad for you and I hope you're trolling so I don't have to imagine individuals like you shitting up my area of interest.

There are multiple paths to an answer and your method is correct as well.

ln(AC)=ln(A)+ln(C)

Therefore ln(2x) = ln(2)+ln(x)
ln(2) is a constant and the derivation of that is zero.

d' (ln(x)) / dx = 1/x
