I didn't say "reason doesn't exist." I said that this ideal "Reason" which can be a basis for morals is.
Reason is a tool, not an ideal.

>If someone told you to kill your parents, would you? Let's not even say parents; just a random person on the street. Just asking. Serious question, too.

No.

>If so, the difference would be that reason isn't a masochistic genocidal lunatic.

Who says? My perfect "Reason" might just be masochistic, genocidal and lunacy.

OP, the woman in your pic is too perfect. She seems too sculpted, too statuesque. She loses her organic/human quality and becomes artificial; that picture isn't even erotic for me.
She's too idealized, which makes her less beautiful.

Materialism and existentialism have no opinion of each other. They are different areas of philosophy.

Hahaha, you claim "reason" is the arbiter of morality just as the religious would claim "God" is. You are no different, you both beckon to some supreme ideal that doesn't exist.
Reason cannot make morals. Only authority can make morals. The only thing reason can do is be used to convince people to "be moral" with arguments; it doesn't matter wether those are "religious morals" or "secular" ones, reason plays the same role.

Yes, virtue did, but not morality. Virtues are human qualities, morals are inhuman dictates.

No OP, you are wrong and for precisely the reason why happiness and sadness have been evolved as beneficial traits:
they are a measure of our performance. We are happy when we do right, we are sad when we do wrong-- that way were learn right from wrong (not in a moral sense, but in a very pragmatic sense: we learn what strengthens us and what weakens us).
Without this mechanism we would be hopelessly stupid; we would react to harmful things with the same placid grin as things that are truly beneficial. Ignorance would be as rewarding as knowledge, weakness as strength, stupidity as intelligence, ugliness as beauty, etc.

Sadness is useful. The utility of having degrees of sadness and happiness in our lives outweights the utility of being constantly happy.

You are now aware that scientific accomplishments have been utilized to usher in the era of man that you criticise, that scientific knowledge can be used for the strengthening and weakening of mankind and is not an end but a means, and that the process of creation is much more enriching than the process of discovery and creation is a more suitable end.
