WHATS THE POINT OF ANYTHING?

SERIOUSLY THERE ISN'T.

land isn't the issue. Resources, namely food and clean, fresh water are the issue. Not to mention over stressed energy needs.

The power that would need to come from wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectric, can only support a certain amount of people and these energy intensive vertical farms, and other city needs. Not even taking into account that some of those energy sources are not always reliable and they do not put forth that much energy in the first place.

Keeping that in mind these cities cannot be large in population and they should be almost completely reliant on their local resources and surroundings.

Obviously this type of lifestyle has never been tested or done, so once again putting a number on what should be appropriate is theory at best.

I cannot imagine though with trying to be self reliant on local resources you can have population centers in large numbers. Maybe under 20,000 per city? Now spread out cities in smart locations around the world and the total numbers won't be that high.

Water and food would assuredly be stressed to the point where it wouldn't support those types of numbers and still be expected to be replenished.

Yes.

It stays away from conspiracy theories and just puts forth a view of the flaws within our current economic system.

A trillion, definitely not. I don't even think the current 7billion can be supported under any system.

I think the die off we are more than likely heading towards will be a necessity. Hopefully after that we learn from our faults and institute a smarter system accounting for resources such as the film suggests.

I am not going to say what would be an appropriate number of what the population should be maintained at, but 7 billion is way too high.

The one problem with their resource based economy that they never seemed to mention, is population growth. It would be wise to account for this and even try to keep a ratio of 1:1 at all times or else you will still shoot yourself in the foot. If managing and calculating resources could even be properly done in the first place.

Now however we stand a better chance of not self destructing in a resource based economy than we do in our current system of stupidity.

Though I think we are past the point of no return anyways and societal collapse is more than likely going to happen, which will push those who will survive into living off the land and forming localized small societies that use resources nearby.

There will be survivors of course if we haven't nuked each other to the point that contamination of land and fresh water sources occurs.

This movie stayed away from BS the first movie incorporated and actually brought factual legit points to the table. Obviously some were well OBVIOUS, but none the less I think it provided a descent view of the direction of this planet with it's current system structure.

Their "plan" to solve issues really won't help, it's probably past the point of return and our collapse will be a certainty soon enough.

I ended up sleeping a total of 4 or 5 hours total over the course of 7 days.
