And I would say marine biology is far more exciting then the tremendous circle jerk of space opera. That's all it is... is nerds, with chalkboards, throwing around ridiculous sized numbers and repeating what dead scientists before them proposed of blackholes, super novas, and quasars.

It is out there, someone needs to find it, and then master it. I'm not denying that... but me? I would rather learn how to control the environment of my backyard, then find out my neighbor owns a fucking mansion in resources and hyper intelligent creatures. The depths of our own world are still strange and magical to us. Our computers fuck up, the earth sneezes and we pay for it in a thousand dead babies, we have no control over anything.

To investigate the oceans, would be to give us more stability by learning more about marine life, how it survives, and in fact if our technology can endure the intense pressures of the bottom of the sea, then we can certainly deal with heat, cold, and vacuums of space! I guess what I'm trying to say is to focus on the ocean would make us better at being engineers and architects of the universe, rather then philosophers and professors.

Space travel is a bunk of horse shit for the most part.

I believe strongly that we will in our lifetimes, see a transition into type one civilization,and we will become very argumentative over heavy metals and other resources much like Arthur C. Clarke's book Earthlight.

But traveling from point A to point B, either for us to meet aliens, or for aliens to meet us. Is ridiculous. It always relies on soft science principles.

1: Dark matter. With almost infinite energy, it might be able to work. But how would we come across dark matter and then harvest it?

2: Anti-matter. The physics is different as to why we're moving rather then if we used dark matter. But even more mind fuck of how we even encounter it without causing some paradox regression. Let alone use it!

3: Wormholes. The most likely, but also most counter-productive. Because I don't believe we could predetermine a worm hole's destination. The universe is not one flat mall map. I believe if you were to open a wormhole from the same exact destination, you'd reach another place "on the other side" every time. Because of the way our three dimensional space works. Might be good for nomads... for a while... but when full blown entropy takes effect, this type two civilization crap will not fly.

TL;DR: That feel when given what you know about modern physics, type three civilizations are impossible, and most aliens would not waste time or effort communicating or even trying too. If they needed something of out's, they'd just take it, and we're far too underdeveloped intellectually to be of any use to them in some kind of intergalactic power grab.

Science is grim dark.

Appeal to scientific consensus is by it's nature, a revolutionary and radical ideology. Science requires constant advancement, constant challenges, and constant rhetoric. Or else it isn't science.

Now it's one thing to call ourselves champions of this clause, and another to actually do it. Most technocrats would be no different then any other system. Advocating stagnation, oppression of the mind, and faulty systems of governance, because anyone who disagrees with them is "stupid". Whether willfully or incidentally. Just like denying the holocaust is illegal in some countries, challenging the status quo could earn you similar jail time under a technocracy. How is that living life by reason?

The appeal to authority is out of cowardice, laziness, and willful ignorance. It's easier to let others decide things for you. When the oil runs out, (and they will wait till the very last minute to introduce a new viable energy source) they'll probably use electricity, or "oil" in the sense of vegetable oil/cough syrup, or something else they can monopolize and claim finite resources is a good excuse to make everyone pay 1/3rd their paycheck just to get to fucking work.

I really hate to have to get up on my communist soapbox about this. But seriously... if people didn't have to go to work, how often do you think they'd use gas? If I told you, that I'd provide you with food, shelter, means to entertain yourself like free WoW and shit, you could still have a girlfriend and fuck her, a lot more time to fuck her now... and all you had to do was the job the state assigned you, didn't have to work overtime or any of that shit unless you were specifically called too, and we'd provide you with so many gallons of gasoline for luxory purposes to drive where you wanted too... how would you react?

If you're looking for sexual gratification, you're going to want phermones. So the earth travels around the sun in a day. We measure a day differently then we would in space. So lets just say "one earth day". To keep track of how much your body would age under such a circumstance. We could travel 875,000 miles per earth day under such a system. That sounds very impressive. Quite frankly... it is. But it's nowhere near lightspeed travel. Light travels at 186,000 miles... PER SECOND... Thats 16,070,400,000 per earth day. NASA's rocket ships travel at about 17,500 miles per hour. Totaling in at 420,000 miles per earth day. Thats a little less then half of what I'm proposing we could be capable of. And at that, I'm being very conservative with Earth's orbiting rate. Pluto rotates in six motherfucking days, and obviously doesn't snap like a twig. But baby steps man...

Why the fuck isn't the government giving me a grant? A few days ago it just occurred to me how we could advance long distance space travel. Thinking in three dimensions instead of two.

Gravity machines. Think about it. A blackhole is nothing but a hole in the universe resulting from such a massive "bent" in space, that it looks like a gigantic hole in the three dimensions. In that "hole" is a cluster fuck of mass. You wouldn't see it, but your mass would clash with all the other mashed up mass that split apart from the intense gravity. Nothing could "live" in that mess. It's just a junkyard of unlucky mass. Therefore... the trick would be to propel one's self using gravity, without exceeding the limit to cause a blackhole effect. We are uncertain of how dense of a surge or how heavy a mass must be before it begins to cause that cosmic sinkhole. And frankly, it would be dangerous, (but exhilarating) to findout! Earth orbits around the sun, that's a safe bet. Earth is nowhere close to being dense enough in mass or gravity manipulation. Therefore, if we could somehow manipulate energy to resemble mass, rather then sheer force, we could "orbit away" rather then boom boom, shoot forward. Think of it as pushing yourself from a wall rather then using your legs to run. When dealing with physics, this actually makes more sense then the initial energy investment in running!
