Need some advice from a /sci/entist or two.

I'm 23..live with grandmother, havea full-time job making $11 an hour with the possibility of making more and moving up in an extremely comfortable job.

That being said...I have a yearning to study Physics. As well all I know..the full path for that is anywhere from 8-12 years as I don't have any college credits to my name.

Anyone here in similar boat or possibly already pursuing what they want despite having a lackluster financial situation?

I'm not really sure how long I can stay with my relative, and if I can't...how I'll afford to live anywhere else while obtaining a Physics degree full-time.

tl;dr - How can I pursue Physics with so many roadblocks in front of me?

Apparently...he invested his graduate stipend in Apple...so...he's lucky enough to study his passion and have enough money to just live freely.

Well...he is an expert in every field of engineering and is basically the best engineer known.

In short...you will never become like Tony Stark.

Ouch....in the US...I know some schools offer "certain" programs at an accelerated rate for people who have already earned a bachelor's degree in another discipline.

My advice is to look for something like that.

if worse come to worst....try to obtain a Master's in Psych or Bio....something you MIGHT be able to get into...then afterwards....go for the Neuro PhD.

You probably won't need a full 4 years...but you will need to cover your pre-reqs to ensure you know the basic fundamentals.

Best option is too look for a Neuroscience program that you're interested in...and look at the requirements needed to enter it.

Not much of a resume...but..

GPA: N/A (Starting this Fall, 21 btw)
Major: Physics
Expected Graduation Date (degree): 2015
Research Experience: N/A
Publications: N/A
Relevant course work: N/A
Work Experience: Retail jobs ;_;
Future Plans (graduate schools/jobs): PhD in Astrophysics or Theoretical Physics
Rewards: I'm hispanic and my family is shit poor, meaning I get good financial aid
Anything else: Stopped at Geometry back in HS, so I have to take the pre reqs this Spring so I can be ready in time to take the program as intended by Fall of 2011.

Cognitive Neuroscience has piqued my interest...but I'd rather wait until I get more knowledgeable in the field before I make anything concrete.

Unfortunately...the school I am about to attend doesn't have a neuroscience program..

Would a undergrad degree in Biology with a focus on Physiology/Cell Biology do justice for future graduate work?

What is your undergraduate degree in OP?

I'm also interested in pursuing a career in Neuroscience.

I really don't know how this gets posted so much..and how so many people seem to think Goku would win.

I've seen both...and I love both.

And the obvious winner is....Superman.

Sure...Goku has Speed on him...but Supes can literally just break his neck instantly.

Superman can physically...move planets....he sneezed and caused an entire galaxy to be blown away.

Anyone who has actually read a comic knows that Superman wins under any circumstance.

It's not...at all.

I actually frowned during that video.

They use the most vague examples of science and mathematics to appear funny...and since the general populous knows noting specific about what they are talking about...they just find it funny to avoid looking moronic.

Continue your studies in?

I'm interested because I might be going into Neuroscience..and by that I mean my undergraduate studies would be Biology based.
