I'm majoring in Earth Science and in my 3rd year, I still have another 2 or 3 before I can graduate. Most degrees require at least 130 credit hours (which is difficult to get in one run, since it's almost guaranteed you'll have to retake certain classes). What you'll have to take varies on what your major is e.g. I have to take a fuckton of physics, math, and earth science classes because my particular program is focused in geophysics.

This school is incredibly brutal and demanding. If you fuck around too much you WILL get royally screwed. It generally gets easier once you get out of the weed-out/general degree classes, though.

Too many scientists nowadays are so caught up with their own theories and current paradigms that they'll flip a shit whenever something that challenges it comes up. There have been several potentially important discoveries that have been rejected simply on principal by these sorts of guys and not because whoever did it was wrong or couldn't write their papers properly.
