Hi there, I mostly post anonymously. I console my tripfaggotry with the fact that I'm not EK or Blackman.

Also, bitches don't know (literally) bout my badass secure trip and password.

This is a high school level mathematics contest question, like those you see on the AMC10 or 12. The answer is going to be obvious because the question is obvious. They don't expect you to memorize logarithms, so there's not going to be such ambiguity. If they start giving questions such as the one you are proposing, then (as many have said here before), you will know how to do it. Otherwise, don't go solving questions you're not asked.

Useless? Condescending? I gave him the answer and I explained in a rational, logical manner so that, if faced with another similar situation, he could figure it out using that though process. Sorry I didn't give him a fucking cookie and post smiley faces and hearts.

Logic. Basic number theory.

2^400 is larger, look at how many times it multiplies itself. 5 is a larger base, but its exponent is tiny compared to 2's exponent. In the end, considering how exponential functions work, the larger exponent will win.

I watch it for amusement, not for scientific enlightenment. As a result, it is quite amusing to have in the background. I always need to have something playing on the TV while I whittle away my life at the computer screen, be it BBT, Friends, Seinfeld, Burn Notice, even some anime. The laugh track is annoying, but it's not like I'm paying close attention to the show anyways. It entertains me and my needs, and that's all I need out of a sitcom.

Dimensional analysis. There should be a lot of stuff on the internet to find, it can get kind of complex to just put into one 4chan post, so try googling it.

The essence of dimensional analysis is to turn one unit into another (e.g. meters in centimeters, grams into moles).

As for the acceleration thing (m/s/s = m/s^2), it's just because of how division works. >>4258837 shows it pretty well with real examples.

Okay, semi-legit advice is:

if you took AP physics C in high school, you should be able to easily decide whether you like mech or E+M more. If not, either take some general engineering classes for MechE and EE for a semester or so, or just google and search/ask around. I don't know the specifics of either, so I'm going to say that I do.
