also you dont need to know algebra or quadratics to make any sense of this, basic graph reading knowledge will tell you that x corresponds to the x axis and y corresponds to the y axis and in simplicity this is just x and y graphed. You could remove all the text and from your post and you would be able to find out any answer you needed still

>> No.5553409 [View]

x - 2y -8 = 0 can be solved to y=(1/2x)-4
when anything is in that format, the coefficient of x is the slope
meaning you gain 1 y for every 2 x

so when x equals 0, (when it lays at point 0 on the x axis), y = -4. That is the called the y intersect.

you can solve for the red intersect because for the red line, y=1, meaning y=3x+1 (3x means 3 y gained per 1 x gained)

the fuck do you mean x=-2 and y-5 what

Which is why I strongly believe trying to drop theories equations and formulas to some retarded english teacher is not going to yield you a potentially earned high score, but rather a "decent" score to get you by. In fact, he'd probably say that this isn't very related to english and he should have chosen a research topic about space that could actually be talked about and not only measured in theoretical numerics

Thank you OP. I had long deleted that picture of my ideal 20/10 waifu long ago. I had been seeking it for ages, like it was the one ring to rule them all.

You have returned my precious, and for that I thank you.

Again, to make this more clear. This is a very specified area of cosmology. If you're handing it in as an english essay, do something a lot more general to cosmology/space or at least relative to english. This kind of paper should be turned into a theoretical physics class and would be ridden by data statistics and comparisons between constants and patterns. This type of paper would not belong in an english class

>> No.5518364 [View]

dont do a research essay on something as complex and hypothetical as the boundaries space for an english class. Go full Neil Degrasse Tyson mode and try to get people interested in space by stringing together really amazing facts with their appropriate analogies.

An appropriate thesis would be "Why children today are losing more and more interest in space". You have tons of actual content with just neil tysons lectures and speeches alone that if you truly appreciate you can piece together into something beautiful of your own

People use "hurr math just wasnt for me" as a cop out to not putting the time in to learn it from the ground up.

These are usually people that try to skip forward through shit everywhere else in their life but realize they can't with math and just say hurr i cant math xD

Every other subject?

You have to be an artsfag or in highschool. "Every other subject" when referring to science or engineering includes relevant knowledge of math.

The reason I'm calling you regular retarded is because you are probably underage

You're not math retarded.
You're just regular retarded and probably mediocre in every other subject

And good community college would just be one with teachers that will be able to help you, and the courses you need to transfer into a second year program that are transferrable

protip: there is no /good/ community college

I did the same. When I wanted to go straight to uni I aced all my courses, but realized prior fuckups meant I couldn't go straight to uni. 3rd term I just said fuck it and my 90s went down to 50s and i decided to just play vidya all day.

What you have to do is
1. TAKE INITIATIVE to teach yourself and cover what you were suppose to learn in highschool. Not just go over it, you need to really fucking LEARN IT to prepare yourself for a year at junior college.
2. Have a HIGH GPA and participate in any and all extra curricular you can think of to aid your transfer to a good university. You have no idea how many people go to a JC and say "hurr im gonna transfer to so and so uni" YET DO FUCKING TERRIBLY AND DONT PUT THE EFFORT IN TO GET GOOD GRADES.

Newsflash. You're not going to get into a STEM field or into a science faculty at a good uni without top tier grades and EC. So basketball, clubs, social gatherings, and any type of leadership needs to be taken care of alongside top tier grades.

I guarentee if you can get those 2 steps down perfectly youll do fine in uni because you've built up the ability to take initiative and study/learn/take action when it counts. You'll realize how far you've come and it'll propel you to the finish line so you can work in a cubicle all day for 3/4ths of your life so you can buy technology that becomes outdated every few years.

Good luck

Also p.s. I sense you dont know what you want to go into cause you just mentioned "STEM based career" instead of something specific. What you need to do is research fields and FIND SOMETHING YOU ARE GENUINELY INTERESTED IN/FASCINATED BY and that will be your motivation/drive to get through it.

For me. It would be space. Every moment I am having trouble with math or physics or some shit not directly related to space I just feel like saying "fuck it", but that end goal and knowing that I need it to cultivate my passion and fascination gets me through it

There is only a certain amount of energy in the universe. Eventually the universe will expand enough that all energy that is used right now for lifeforms to survive will be far too sparse or spread out over the universe that it will technically be dead.

Here's an analogy I just made up. Put a goldfish in a bowl of water. Now take that same amount of water, and put it in an empty swimming pool and put the goldfish in there. There wont be enough water because it's all spread out over the pool

Do you think there's a species/race of life forms out there that have a higher natural comprehension/intellectual capability than us?

I see so many people put our level of intelligence and comprehension on a pedastal, where they assume life forms may not be as advanced as us, yet i think it's the other way around. I think that there are organisms that have been developing a lot longer than humans that have brains that would be able to comprehend all of mathematics in a week, play instruments perfectly etc.

This video touches on my point cause i cant articulate for shit

What are your guys thoughts on Silicon based lifeforms?

Think about it. If a lifeform were silicon based, they could thrive in a multitude of different, totally un-earthlike environments.

I, for one, welcome our new siliconbased overlords

I actually dont care much for mech engineering though. I don't care about the actual land based structure of things, the only reason im getting into AS is because space interests me, and nat urally spaceships and the types of craft NASA would use is a byproduct of that.

I'd be moving from Vancouver to Toronto, and then looking to get my MS in USA

As for courses...my school recommends I take compsci with engineering so I guess that fills that slot. My computer literacy goes as far as knowing how to torrent shit so yeah. I was actually thinking two non eng/phys electives I would be taking would be astronomy to quench my cosmos fascination, and language (Probably russian) to help my marketability later on (Would like to work with spacecrafts, so russia is an option).

I appreciate you taking the time out of your night and answering bro.

But do you think I should go across the country for an actual Aerospace engineering program/degree, or grad with Mech E degree? Which provides me with a better job if i were to get one in between getting my MS?

Also, what do you recommend to fill credits up with as a ME/AE? I was thinking comp sci and philosophy

So do you think getting a bsc in mechE with thermofluids is easier than getting a bsc in AE from the start?
