matter is stored energy

It's basically happened several times already. Newton's conception of reality has been modified and changed before in grand theories such as quantum mech and relativity, which turned down his corpuscle theory of light and theories of kinematics/gravity

well, humans tend to look like each other.

It's fucking horrendous; imagine how you would feel if your society made you sterilize yourself (the opposite of the most basic of human urges).

Do we sterilize monkeys, too?

Fucking idiots...

oh that's just because I messed up; and assumed the question was asking for final velocity instead of distance traveled.

you need to use: distance = .5at^2

But notice this is easily derived from V = at,

just integrated with respect to time on both sides.

So you'd go (.5)(3.2)(32.8)^2 = 1721

I love this thread and I'm not even polar

Well an airplane starts at rest, we have its acceleration and the time.

The kinematics equation for this case is:

V = at

Acceleration represents the concept of changing velocity. An acceleration of 3.2 m/s^2 literally means you're changing your velocity by 3.2 meters every second, so multiply the acceleration by the time and you'll get the answer.

well simple harmonic motion introduces the concept of periodic functions, and physics is full of 'em.

pretty viable, lol

yeah anyone who says depression isn't that bad has never suffered from chronic depression. You'd literally want to just kill yourself, no matter how much of a "genius herp derp" you were in whatever zany thought experiment you're cooking up here

everyone's gonna say the same thing, and then trolls, and it's like why are we doing this again

>> No.4126897 [View]

well what do you mean by intuition? Unless you're working on equations whose fundamental constants / operators have physical meaning (applying math to science), then the underpinnings of math are really meant to be abstract and capable of describing a highly versatile field of phenomena.

I wouldn't worry; just keep studying your maths OP

>> No.4126887 [View]

That's not the fuss; we'd still be able to record the distance it traveled regardless of which direction its pointing relative to us. Relativity is actually saying that a space-ship moving at half light-speed trying to chase a beam of light in front of it will observe the light travelling away from it at c.

That's the thought experiment you should be oozing over

I'm sure the exact margin cannot be precisely defined, given that reality is in motion and all

oh /sci/ don't let these kids intimidate you. These kids went to specialized schools, and are basically are just people who happen to be right and smart. Nothing special

OP just go into physics, lol. physicists end up doing everything anyways.

I believe it's called the decay rate, and is used to model things in particle physics based on small life-times etc

that's not true; idiots aren't the only people who browse this board. so cynical

>> No.4121635 [View]

Because it takes a while to accelerate the particles to the speeds needed for the experiments; my understanding is that a series of electric/magnetic fields are arranged along the accelerator tunnel and they're switched on and off in an oscillation which runs the stretch of the tunnel in phase with the particle such that it causes the particles to keep gaining velocity
