i'm 4th year biotech, it's a 5year school here in greece and after this thinking of doing a phd somewhere in northern europe

dunno what interests me more tbh, i was into immunology and human physiology a lot but biotech and biochem engineering looks more promising research wise

/sci/ really can't into biology

fat can't just "burn" by itself, the energy has to go somewhere. the most sufficient substance to promote fat loss i'm aware of is DNP, which causes some of the energy used to form atp to get wasted into heat, thus raising the body's metabolism. but it's toxic, so ye

>they can't function

define function. i'm pretty sure they can live without mutilating themselves. and i'm sure therapy could help

it's the same thing as the people that insist they have to cut off one of their limbs. it's self mutilation and in my opinion shouldn't be acceptable by society

yes but like i'm saying, people won't treat a transexual the same way they'd treat a qt3.14 girl.

>if transitioning didn't improve people's lives, they wouldn't do it. it's as simple as that

>if drinking didn't improve alcoholics' lives they wouldn't do it

>if gambling didn't improve gamblers' lives they wouldn't do it

etc etc

but treating someone on a bias based on their gender is wrong to begin with. plus most people won't treat a transexual as a girl

Having a neurological root still doesn't make it (for lack of a better term) "normal". Everything you do has a neurological basis, that doesn't mean (at least my opinion) that people should get their genitals mutilated in order to try to look like something they aren't

you can't change that Y/X no matter how much you mutilate your penis, and vice versa. like it or not, you are born a biological male

and don't get me wrong, this isn't about some false sense of morality. i just think that the same way you won't let a depressed person kill himself even if he feels like it, people shouldn't mutilate themselves

then again you can argue that everyone is free to do what they will. then i can argue that you won't let a drunk be a drunk. it really depends on how you see it

i have no problem with someone being gay for example, but mutilating yourself to look like something you're not just doesn't seem... healthy to me

this. you can study philosophy at your own spare time, that area is nowhere near qualified to be a university degree in my opinion

well he's right about the kind of people vsauce attracts, but to be fair he looks like a guy that does his research and even though he simplifies some things he never talks unscientifically

i like him tbh, it's for entertainment purposes after all and not to teach you things. if i wanted to learn about the quantum physics of a black hole i'll watch lectures from universities about it. but if i want to watch something while i eat my cereal in the morning vsauce isn't that bad

plus he seems like a cool dude

it's pretty simple, don't do to others what you wouldn't want others to do to you

/sci/, i have a presentation to make for human physiology II. I have to present a review paper someone else made in 15mins, and the subject of the paper can be anything I want

prof said as long as it is physiology related, it's ok. of course physiology is a broad field, so most medical articles would do

what would /sci/ suggest? anything interesting you read recently?
