You typed it in your computer and your computer made an approximation. Due to rounding you got the numbers to be equal while in reality they are not.

That doesn't work at all. The condition is <span class="math">c(i) = c(|k-i|)
, not <span class="math">c(i) = c(k-i)
and the formula

The wise man knows the absurdity of taking a median position between believing and disbelieving a non-falsifiable claim with 0 supporting evidence.

Obviously a troll thread, but I'm bored so I'll bite.

Atheism IS the best choice.

A scientist doesn't even begin to believe there is Dark Gravity Energy Quark Radiation Quasars when there has been ZERO evidence to even suggest the existence of such a thing. The same applies to all religions.

It's not the trait of a scientist to possess a median view between belief and disbelief on a completely unfalsifiable and unsupported claim.

ICBMs take over twice that long to reach their targets. That's one-way, presuming no retaliation occurs. And it doesn't account for preparation time, either. Plus it'd leave most of the nuclear weapons in existence (which are non-ICBM) completely unused.

You actually don't know what you're talking about. If we really are going to enter "resource wars", any country which seeks to stay on top will look towards outer space. Resources in space are infinite and quite accessible. The energy crisis could be solved for ~10,000 years by using resources readily available to us on the moon.

Our time in space is only just beginning. The retired space shuttle program is actually one of the best things that has ever happened for the future of space exploration. New doors in the private industry are opening every day.

>With extremely conservative theoretical equations we can come up with a number of 1.4 other intelligent species in our galaxy RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT, at around our tech level or past it, and by conservative I mean, It uses only 1% of planets with liquid water and such will develop life, when in reality it's most likely closer to 100%, so far it IS 100% as far as we know. And then it's reduced further by only 1% of those being able to create intelligent life. When really intelligent life is most likely going to emerge at some point after billions of years, so it's more like 100% of planets that last long enough with the above properties.
What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read to it. I award you no points, please fuck off faggot.

The problem, of course, is that none of the terms in Drake's equation can be known, and most cannot even be estimated. The only way to work the equation is to fill in with guesses. And guesses-just so we’re clear-are merely expressions of prejudice. Nor can there be “informed guesses.” If you need to state how many planets with life choose to communicate, there is simply no way to make an informed guess. It’s simply prejudice. So even you saying that "only 1% of planets with liquid water and such will develop life" is just a fucking guess and it has no informative value whatsoever

Please, go to /x/ with this nonsense

When an employer wants to hire someone, he doesn't care about knowledge. He wants to know if the guy can work hard, and push himself to improve.
College isn't necessarily about learning, although many people do go there to learn. It's about going into the unknown and facing it. Graduating means that you took the challenge, and you beat it.

It's only dropouts and idiots like you that come up with this "it's who you know, not what you know. college is about networking. hurr durr" stupidity.

your fucking brain can't find any salient stimuli in the environment. that's why we give you adderall. stimulants increase dopamine levels in the nucleus accumbens, the reward center, thereby increasing your concentration by making specific stimuli more salient than others.
