Can someone give me a factual and educational explanation of Godels incompleteness theorem and how big of an impact he had on mathematics?

I see a lot of biased reports and videos making baseless speculations and go way off topic.

Please explain, in terms a brainlet can understand, the implications of Gödel’s incompleteness theorem.

So I'm a grad student and was recently diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and psychosis which probably explains why my GPA has taken a hit from its previous 99% (also explains why I was doing so well and studying 16 hours a day in the first place, fucking mania). I'm not even the first person in my department to come out with this diagnosis. Is there a relationship between being smart and going mad?
