Rose was a physicist, but she didn't speak of it often. The charming thing about intelligent women is less about technical knowledge and more about self-awareness. And yes, society keeping women out of STEM is just another example of things "society" does without actually pointing out WHO in society does these things. There's a huge base of scholarships for women in STEM, to the point where I've seen women make it through MIT on a free ride with GPAs floating around 2.5. The biggest obstacle to women in STEM is the average female psyche being more inclined to understand people's minds while the male psyche is more inclined to understand physical systems. From that alone, you can see how more men wind up being scientists & doctors while more women wind up being teachers & nurses.
