I'm flat broke and getting kicked out of college next week (engineering major). My appeals and loans were all denied and I still have loans that I have to pay back immediately since I'm forced to drop out. On top of that, I think I'm suffering from onset schizophrenic and have mild ADHD. Wat do?

I don't trust anyone, I lock the door to the bathroom inside of my locked bedroom inside of my locked house just to wash my hands, I sleepwalk, I have seven personalities, I don't hear 'voices' but I feel intense urges that pass after a few seconds, I have cold tingling stress waves randomly, I'm sexually deviant, it takes an immense amount of self control to avoid being violent in normal situations, I have never felt emotionally close to anyone (except once), and just a lot of other small niches.

These are the only things that even have anything to do with schizo. And the first one can only be indicative of schizophrenia if a) you've only started experiencing it recently and; b) you have at least about four other symptoms of schizo.

Getting broke and kicked out of college could be a symptom but then again a lot of healthy people get themselves into the same situation. You should only be (mildly) concerned if this sort of performance is unusual for you.

But hey, faggot, you know yourself better than I do. If you <span class="math">seriously[/spoiler] suspect schizophrenia after what I just told you, you should talk to someone sooner than later. Early intervention can lead to a better prognosis. Faggot.

If you are unemployed, you can file for an deferment to your loans - I think it lasts for 6 months, maybe 9. I did that while looking for work. You just have to register at Monster or something like that so that you have it documented that you are signed up with an 'employment agency', and you'll qualify.

I also noticed at the same time though, you can also file for having lower monthly payments if you're low income - so even if you have a job, if it's a shitty job, you can get your loan payments lowered. Of course, at that rate you'll be paying them off for the next 40 years, but this is supposed to be temporary, right?

Finally... you can join the PeaceCorps, and I think AmeriCorps also works. They'll put your loans in deferment while you're in the program, and forgive something like 16% of the debt when you come out of it in 2 years. The program is supposed to be fun. It also looks good on job apps and might help you look better if you try to get back into college later - it builds a narrative that admissions personnel or HR types understand; "Yeah, I fell flat on my face because I was going through a tough time, but I put all that behind me and dedicated myself to a cause which is greater than myself..."

PeaceCorp should also pay for a medical checkup, which you might put to good use, right? Get whatever pills you need to keep you getting up in the morning. I know I do.

You can find these forms on the website of your student loan handling company. Sign in to your account and look around for a FAQ section. For me it was Sallie Mae and it wasn't too hard to find, and took very little parperwork.

I think the real problem is that you are majoring in engineering.

>> No.5988847

Finally...

When you do go back to college (and please do), think about getting a teaching credential and becoming a teacher.

I don't know if that has anything to do with what you'd like to be, but if loans are a big problem for you, it works out great. You sign up to teach at a low income school for a few years and they forgive most of your loans. The classes you'd take aren't hard, and the classes you'd teach would help you make sure your own kids do well in school. You don't make as much as a doctor or engineer, but if you're having trouble, it's a very solid bridge to middle-middle class. Think it over.

Yeah I get that. I went into biology because that's what I liked in highschool... then went to graduate school in biology because that's what I did in college, and I hated the work (I figured I might as well try to work up the value chain to find something better). Found out in graduate school that faculty and whatnot have even shittier jobs...

So I dropped that and now I'm going back to school for... civili engineering. I figured I'd better do it now while I'm still young or I'd be regretting it for the next 40 years.

That said, you have to ask yourself... why didn't you do well in school? Will you do better next time? Don't assume you'll put in a superhuman level of effort and magically do much better, because no one has the stamina to do that for years on end. But if it was just a question of maturity, or getting some adderoll, then you've got a shot. Address your issues and make plans accordingly.

I always see that rule but I always help the people here anyway... because they're right, /sci really is the best place for it. The people here are better students and smarter than the people on /adv, and better suited to academic advice.

I wouldn't go to /adv if I needed advice on the best tory lane gangbang videos, I'd start a thread full of tory lane on /hc. The different boards represent different specialties and I don't see why we blame people for recognizing that
