Tell me anon, why can we hear explosions?
What is it that vibrates and creates an audible tone?
Movement of air pressure alone is not audible, same as a single swing of a speaker membrane is unhearable.
I see how the explosion creates a shockwave from expansion and a "dropwave" from air falling back in. But what happens that keeps the tone going?

It's the collapsing bubble of hot gas formed by the explosion. The bubble expands until the pressure inside of it is lower than the surrounding air pressure, then collapses and makes a large popping sound basically.

Changes in air pressure are audible because they physically cause your eardrums to vibrate. You should be able to see how a fucking explosion causes a change in air pressure that propagates until it reaches your ear.
