Honestly the only reason you should be studying for a PhD is to become a professor. And even that has a very low chance of happening. It also involves retarded factors like university politics and other shit. In my university there is a guy that has been doing postdocs for years, still not a lecturer.

Maybe because the work was unsatisfactory? I'm sick of these entitled foreigners delivering garbage work and believing that they should still get good grades simply because they pay tuition.

>He tortures me by designing intentionally overloaded physical works. To erase their crimes, they deleted the related emails from my school email box.

>[My adviser stole my papers and accused me of plagiarism]
I seriously doubt this. First of all his writing ability seems terrible I don't even believe , he is not the first author on any of those papers he posted. Secondly he should have ample proof such as lab journals and other emails of him working on the project. Why is none of this posted on his blog?

My mother died during my study in IIT. My father is so tired, we had paid everything that we could. But my adviser cheated me again and again. He is so greedy and his desires of pulling teeth from my month are never stopping and getting satisfied. It has been two years since I came back to resume my Ph. D. program, but he shows no clues of will to let me go after I was suffering in poverty and experiencing very painful and extremely hard time.

Listen, that really sucks, but again paying tuition does not ensure you should graduate. I really do wish he would just find another job. If you're not being funded for your PhD you should not see it as "an opportunity".

>my work is far not enough to reach the graduation
Which is correct. She has no first authorship papers. It's a PhD, not a masters.

>Start over, what does that mean to me, another 5 years. I had been in America 7 years for this degree without going home even once.
Why the fuck are you taking this long to finish your PhD? What did you even do for that 7 years when the nett result is a large chunk of copy-pasting?

I checked the actual e-mail screenshots in the blog. He was accusing the student of SELF-plagiarism (copy-pasting from the Masters work) and plagiarism from the papers (on which Lu contributed, but is not first author). It seems that Lu did indeed do this based on the screenshots from the same blog where the student is trying to defend the plagiarism.

Self-plagiarism is still plagiarism.

This is a very tragic fate and Lu should've tried to get a normal job instead, but honestly didn't get fucked over by anyone as far as I can tell.

I feel that biology and chem are the fields where people get abused the most.

The problem with the field is that there is a lot of grunt research to do, so professors who have a lot of postgrads tend to pull ahead easily. Postgrads get fucked over unless they do their own independent breakthrough research.

>Maybe the dude is schozophrenic and the whole situation is just really sad and no one is really equipped to handle it.

Basically it is this. It's a very grey zone area and generally fucked up situation. He might even have told her to file the OTP and forgot about it. The plagiarism incidents are ambiguous and you both sides have very valid points. We also don't know how much of the work is her own because there appears to be another postgrad that worked on the same code.

That secretary bitch is covering her own ass. I side explicitly with Lu on that one, she wasn't trying to get her PhD approved prematurely, she doesn't know how many papers she needs etc. and the secretary marked it without following the proper bureaucracy.

The entire point of all this is that a real investigation would take years and require a lot of technical expertise. The problem is that in the mean time she is getting fucked over in every possible way. I hope she finds employment and resolves the issue by transfer her to another adviser so she could keep her paper count. If she has any will left at that point it will require at least one more paper, a conference paper or two and a new thesis which will take 2-3 years.

It's really sad.

Of course you wouldn´t, since American academia doesn´t appreciate halfwit socialists who feel entitled to higher education. Do us all a favor by staying in your feudal backwaters.

A lot of foreigners don't realize that the single most important factor for a PhD experience not sucking dick is to choose a compatible adviser. My adviser is a young dude like 34 and we're very good friends, hell the whole lab is very good friends, we have events outside of school like twice a month where we all get drunk. Even if I dont get a PhD and master out for some random reason, I honestly wouldnt feel I wasted my time at all even after 3 years, just because of the fucking fun ive been having.
Plus the undergrad poon
