Do you guys watch any youtube channels during downtime? I like to have something to watch while I'm eating but I've run out of videos in most of the channels I watch.

That's the only video of his that is subtitled.
He does really good analysis videos though, I use it as a way to practice both my chess and my french. Pretty much the only youtube I watch.

fucking hell at 8:29 when hes talking about taking on b2 being forced, how the fuck did he do that instantly? took me ages to see what the fuck he was even talking about

Electroboom is pretty good. He does stuff with electricity mostly.

3Brown1blue gives very clear explanations and imagery for mathematical concepts and problems

Numberphile is really not that good. The mathematicians are usually spergs and the only visualizations are brown paper.

VSauce is pretty much just clickbait, but is entertaining none the less.

My brother told me that he literally can't start eating until he has something to watch online. I do the same thing. I asked my friends, and they all do the same thing.

What's up with that? Is it bad?

>looking to /sci/ for approval
Most of these people are undergrads with poor grades, bitterness, and some chip on their shoulder that makes them overcompensate

These are the last people you want to look for approval from

If you want some very basic engineering/manufacturing and history, I rec Forgotten Weapons.
Otherwise, I'm subbed to Wendover Productions, Real Engineering, Practical Engineering, and Wintergatan.
Wintergatan is absolutely top tier for design and process.

It's a symptom of the world we live in. The idea of letting even a moment go past without trying to multitask in someway is anathema. Most prevalent amongst the young who were brought up pressured by such a fast-paced society and the clear indication that a moment spent relaxing is a moment you fall behind with your peers and will never catch up.
Mindfulness is dead.

>> No.9951643

>>9951639
Well I've wasted a lot of time in my life and I regret that so I kinda side with the fast-paced people on this one. GIT GUD

I look at it in a slightly different way.
Similar to watching videos at 2-3x speed, your brain is capable of processing information faster than it can regularly be delivered.
These are simply high-tech ways to achieve that.

<board> approved is just a tongue-in-cheek way of asking for recommendations/opinions. I don't think anybody uses it to mean they actually need approval. Otherwise I have been reading those /g/ threads wrong for years.

I do this too. Unless I'm eating with my family.
The mind gets board while you're eating, and putting on some low quality tv while you watch is a longlived human tradition.
Is it good? Probably not. Really knocks your mind off it's tracks, though most people just treat meals as a respite time anyway

Well I definitely do the same. I have youtube and my podcasts set to 1.5x speed (and my podcast app has a skip silence option) and even when I watch movies I usually set them to 1.2x.

>>9951649
The thing is that it has negative effects on how mindfully you eat, which can lead to greater consumption and less satiety in meals.

Well fuck.
Been doing it since I was in college and I gained like 50 pounds. Unless I'm just a stress eater
