How close are we to "Transhumanism"? Obviously I'm not talking about arms with blades or jetpacks in our feet, but something like cyber eyes, robo-dicks, spine/bone implants, stuff like that.

Not really. It's just that I'm studying Physics, yet I have no clue what to do next. I've always liked robotics andbiology, and there are PhDs here that kinda merge the two, so I figured in my final year I'd pick that direction (of the 5 we have; others being theoretical physics or natural ones; for example) and try and make "Augs" some sort of reality.

>cyber eyes,
We have those, they're called "glasses", and I've had mine since the early 1970's, but they may have been around earlier.

"transhumanism" is a fetish, you might not want to make it a career choice.

Oh you poor undergrad, you have no idea of the slog and the grind that's going to be necessary to make those things possible. We need a lot of different developments in a lot of different fields, some of which may not even exist today. It's too much for one person to do alone.

So take merging shit with biology. All that can be is a slog and grind cause we don't understand biology. We have to try a bunch of random stuff because we don't have the faintest idea what the fuck we are doing. You alone can't try random stuff fast enough.

But you do agree that these things are theoretically possible? I'm an engineering major and have been a "realistic" transhumanist for years but the things I've been learning have been making me question whether humans are capable of getting there or if some of it is even possible.

Well, I do need something to work on. I'm no genius that can be put in research team in Theoretical Physics.
