Am I gonna die? I just rubbed pic related (DSMO) all over a fucked up ankle to use as a NSAID. IT worked great, but I can taste garlic.

But I'm also taking multiple prescription drugs, and I sorta forgot that it'll increase bioavailability.

Currently taking:
Escitalopram
Xanax
clonazepam

Am I gonna die?

Why? DSMO is non-toxic and is used off label for what I am accomplishing.

It's not like I'm using in intravenously which is FDA approved. Just sort of fucked up when I realized off label usage and other drugs.

It's literally an OTC cream in germany, so I'm not THAT worried, I was just hoping to learn some organic chem.

If you're not worried than why ask? Call poison control or call for a medic to get you evaluated at an ER

Because DMSO is a fascinating organic solvent, and I wish to learn more. Clickbait titles aside, I was hoping to foster a fascinating discussion about a promising chemical that was left behind by medical science for a few fascinating reasons.
Namely, lack of profitability, odor issues, and impossibility to properly double blind test.
T. Medical analyst fag.

Also, just did a consult with the drunk doctor roommate and he just laughed at me.

So ... back to science? Less EU style overreacting?

Yep, it's lab grade 99% DMSO, applied to clean skin washed with Ethanol. I'm going to be fine. Gotta attract the organic chemists with click-bait though!

>This is solid advice, and I don't know why you're being hostile to it. It's literally what poison control is for, to tell you if you fucked up and accidentally killed yourself or not.

Because I'm literally sitting next to a physician, have done heavy research (albeit older studies), and it's all good. Literally no need to spend 3k to visit the ER.

Poison control is free and ER doctors call them for weird shit they're unsure about all the time.

Also whatever that 1% is probably really makes a difference. 99% pure lab grade would be 1% impurities that don't impact lab analysis.1% water versus 1% formaldehyde means you're gonna have very different nights.

Forgot to mention killer headache, unsure if due to sleep deprivation and 72 hour + fasting, or DMSO.

Ankle does feel more "oiled" or loose and relaxed. Much better results then high dose tylenol / ibuprofin / other nsaids. They give pain release but no similar loose feeling and stretching.

Scanned thread, didn't see it but I might have missed it so ignore if already said: the issue with DMSO is it's ability to solvate a huge variety of things and then deliver them to your bloodstream at near 100% potency by being incredibly skin permeable. Dissolving something in DMSO and then rubbing yourself with it would be the equivalent of having no skin at all.

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/aic.690230606

I spilled some in Inorganic II lab that had some iron complex in it and got a cranberry coloured stain on my hand for a couple of months (it eventually faded, looked kind of like one of those colourful birthmarks people sometimes have). GA checked msds and said it would be fine, stain likely persisted because the complex may have had association affinity for collagen or something.

Re: garlic smell, did you eat garlic today and possibly not wash your hands good enough? Because you could have just delivered a bunch of greasy garlic pasta leftovers to your bloodstream from your hands and that's why you're getting the taste.

No and no. Well known side effect of DMSO. Big reason why medical researh is limited, no ability to do truly double blind studies.

Skin was kept as clean as possible, washed with scent free soap, rinsed with vodka and let evaporate.

Yes. I've been maxing out other NSAID's for the last 4 months. I'm 6 months post injury.

So, I'm past normal OTC meds, but not far enough long for steroids / cortisone injections, and the only other "option" is platelet rich plasma injections, which are not covered by insurance and are $600 a pop.

I've also got a couple digits that can't be move due to the tendons being frozen by scar tissue. But that can be discussed later or in another thread.
