Hey /sci/ can you explain what a correlation function is to a brainlet?
Just asking for curiosity.

Correlation(X,Y) = Covariance(X,Y)/SD(X)SD(Y)

it's like, how close two things are to each other

correlation means a functional description of a curve which is not based on any physics but maintain your standards. linear approximations are the most common correlations eg.

If you progressively increase the amount of food (in calories) you eat over a year and plot it on a graph, and while doing that you register your body weight and also make a plot, you'll find these things are strongly correlated.
