M is the midpoint of segment AB, AM=2x+4 and AB=12x+4. What is the value of MB?
can you do this didnt think so its impossible.. im dying here

>> No.990259

impossible question. m couldn't possibly be the midpoint on that line. unsolvable

>> No.990263

2AM=AB
2(2x+4)=12x+4
4x+8=12x+4
4=8x
x=1/2
AM=2(1/2)+4=5
AM=MB
MB=5

>> No.990271

2(AM) = AB
2(2x+4) = 12x+4
4x+8 = 12x+4
8 = 8x+4
4 = 8x
1/2 = x

AM = MB
AM = 5
MB = 5

beat you to it homo

I love you. You posted almost the same work right before me <3

>> No.990284

Well... If M is the midpoint, then AM = AB.

Also, AM would be equal to .5AB.

Solve for x, get one half, MB is equal to 5

that dosent support m being the midpoint. if we throw 5 back into the equation, one side equals 14 and the other equals 64.

He didn't say x was equal to 5 yo. Read more carefully

my bad, but regardels, 2x+4 =/= 12x+4, no matter what x equals

Um, no. x = 0

Wait you guys still don't get it?

is correct, but
>>990297
is irrelevant because AM =/= AB anyway. AM = MB.

If MB is in fact 5, which it is, then x is 1/2. If x = 1/2, then AM = 5 and AB = 10.
