Well, transhumanismfags?

Your body does this chemically over a roughly 7 year time span anyway.

>> No.9896280

Difference between OP and second post is that humans retain their memory after replacing their entire body cells. It's our software that makes us who we are. The hardware it's running on contributes to shaping our mind the way it is.

>chemically
more like cell-biologically. also it's just a rule of thumb. some cells in the body actually stay like they are the whole time.

Trick question. Humans are not compareable because the ship is ascribed its name based on a memory of what it is. Our minds store what it is as electrical signals and the name of the vessel is only remembered by our mind.

In fact, our brains regularly take up memories of dead brain cells into the new ones to keep the witnessed event alive.

Just as an old history teacher does to his young pupil. The dead cells are then flushed away when we dream.

So while the ship is still the same as you remember it, you yourself do the "transhuminising" on a microscale all the time, by replacing pieces of yourself but passing on the mempry of what was to newer pieces of yourself.

I wasn't even close btw, as we don't replace neurons, find how to do that gradually and you might keep your identity while having replaced the body entirely. Your original human self will have died, but you will not cease to exists as far as You is concerned.

>> No.9896359

ITT: people don't know that you don't replace neurons and once you're an adult, your neurons are the same your whole life.

what do you consider an "object" and what do you mean by "same"?

>> No.9897257

Reality is made of maths. Forces and objects are math structures, and the interaction is because from that viewpoint our consciousness arose and we sought similarities to help predict existence. Some distributions of amplitude distributions we call quarks, some we call lightspeed edge of physics, etc,, within there, some structures think they are alive in the emergent multiverse. Alive things seek to stay alive, evolve and reproduce, and here we are, asking these questions.

What's the point of these threads?

You are asking a philosophical question to a bunch of science undergrads who have a deformed idea of what philosophy is product of the stupidity of their popsci idols. You will get a bunch of garbage answers and then a few days later /sci/ will complain about how dumb philosophy is.

Your consciousness exists in the patterns of energy and quantum entanglement within the brain, not the brain itself. You all seemingly fail to understand this. Arguing about this topic is like arguing that transferring a live application from running on one stick of RAM to running on another makes it different software.

One day we will be able to replace our entire bodies with nanobots. As long as the nanobots replacing our brain cells with quantum computer circuitry are capable of reproducing the same entanglements and the same patterns of energy flow, we will be able to have fully synthetic bodies while retaining our sentience.

If I create a perfectly identical copy of you and place it next to you, do you think you will experience what it experiences? It will be "a you" but it won't be "the you", and it will diverge from you the moment it starts existing. If you die, it will live on but you will still be fucking dead.

It's not just telomers, there are other structural entities and even some promoter loci that are shifted or cut out from DNA over the lifetime of a cell, this happens in specialized cells and is mediated by some kind of esoteric mutagens at some unspecified point in time for cells of the liver. consciousness, whatever the fuck it is, is dependent upon the substrate system that is the human mind. There is no direct interaction between the instance of consciousness in your brain and that in an exact copy of your physical body, so there is no backpropagation or continuity.
