I'm 29 haven't done maths since high school. Average marks never really tried. I'm planning on learning some programming, python to start but from what I see I'll probably need to get to grips with maths again. Atm I'm a chef so besides basic stuff I haven't really used much maths over the last 10 years. Could you guys recommend some resources or a good way to start practicing maths everyday with a linear progression.

Probably should just fuck off over to >>>/g/ because you have no interest in "math" at all it seems. If you actually want to learn math try starting with a introduction to proofs book supplemented by a precalculus book if necessary then move into Spivak or Rudin. Apostol is also acceptable I suppose.

Now why did I wasted my time typing this you're not intererested raus.

So many smart asses here but can't help a maths brainlet better himself. Typical

So you spent some time learning maths I see. Very impressive I mean I don't even know what your talking about! I'm a chef, you would probably cut yr finger in the first minute in a kitchen never mind having no idea to adress simple hunger in a creative and tasty way besides making your mother's famous family meatloaf I wouldn't even wipe my ass with. But thanks anyway

>thinking curling your fingers as you cut things is hard

>thinking that learning a cuisine or 2 to have interesting things to cook is hard

Now I won't go and say that the skill is easy but come on now you think that ever person in the world can't chop an onion or cook something nice. 2/10 actually got me to reply. But back to my post seriously if you're looking to learn programming and not at a "seriously rigorous level" whatever that means just go brogram it up and check Khan Academy if you can't figure out how to do some math I guess.

For programming discrete math(non continuous) is more useful than calculus in most situations, i can recommend you a book by Oscar Levin.
Telling us the last math course you took and the grade you received would really help our recommendations for a starting point, i'd like to recommend linear algebra by Hoffman and Kunze although that has significantly more prerequisites and may not be as helpful when starting out

so your gonna want to start with discrete math while you're on reading that try to get comfortable with algebraic manipulation, complex/real numbers, and a introduction to functions. once you think you've understood those move on to linear algebra, you'll probably have to backtrack a bit but keep linear algebra as a goal since its one of the most useful areas of math for programming.

start with programming java then c++.
Python will not be a problem after that.
Also dont use youtube tutorials in the beginning as they take way too long.
Learning programming is way faster by just reading about it.
