information can't travel faster than light.
if it don't carry information, things can travel faster than light without violating causality.

for example, lets say the moon travels with 99,999% c and is between our sun and earth, the shadow it would cast on earth would travel faster than light. no information traveled inside the shadow so no violation of causality.

c is the maximum for information, but not the absolute maximum.
