It's a fun idea but the motivation is misleading

He actually does make some interesting points (rational trig is interesting and extends naturally to more abstract settings, where standard trig does not do so as nicely), but he's generally making much fuss about infinity in math while providing little by way of alternatives. Most of his thought experiments (e.g. dark numbers) are the kinds of thoughts that a bored undergrad math student might consider when thinking about math and physics together, they're not very profound (universe is finite, there's a biggest number it can fit, zomg infinite math is a lie!). His philosophy is weak because he introduces unnecessary physical considerations into the pursuit of pure math, all while failing to show why these are necessary and why the results which make use of 'non-physical' math is wrong (hint: it's not).
In short, I think he got stunted philosophically somewhere and is taking it out on math. I'm curious to see what his geometric calculus is like though.

His points about problems with the reals are valid. His solution for it is silly.

I don't see what is so controversial about Real numbers. Or the axiom of choice for that matter

There's no controversy. Only one mentally-ill conspiracy theorist guru who shills his retarded """theories""" on 4chan.

It's a metaphysical thing. At the core of it, finitists completely reject platonism/idealism to the extreme.

He is smart enough that he could make some great videos on an interesting way to think about classic problems. Instead, he rambles on and on about how broken math is and how he's the great mastermind here to save us. It's like he just can't fucking help it, every ten seconds he says something like "but of course, we won't be using those, frankly, illogical square roots" or "But there's a weakness in the core of analysis, so we need to avoid those mistakes."

I fucking hate that guy, not because he's dumb but because he's pretty smart. Just make one video of yourself screaming for an hour, get it out of your system, and stop vaguely claiming math is wrong without backing it up. ffs.

He's like the crazy uncle who starts talking about politics for no reason when you're trying to have a nice conversation. Sure, that uncle knows some stuff, but he also really hates black people.

He really reminds me of both my grandpa and my linear algebra teacher, both of them exactly like that. Both super smart guys, both completely out of their mind and would love to tell you about it.

He is entirely correct—modern mathematics has lost all semblance of rigor.

I was skimming over his "algebraic calculus" series because I thought it would be interesting to see how he deals with problems as the area of a circle and without what he calls "infinite processes" and the fucker just copped out and flat out said circles don't have an area. He's a crank. He's a fucking crank and nothing more than a crank.

>>9849299
Ahahahahahahahah, oh my god, you can't be serious, what a fucking loony. I guess the fact that you can inscribe a square within and outside of a circle isn't good enough for him to conclude the area must be in between. Fucking lol.
Got a link to that shit?

Does the area of the squares exist? Are the areas of things contained within a square smaller than the areas of the square itself? Do things which contain that square have a larger area? QE fucking D Assburger

>> No.9849408

yes if the area exists, then it has value X
now you must prove that the area exists in the first place
