What do you think about Aspartame? Is it safe in the dosages that they put in sodas or not?

Stay away from aspartame, especially in conjunction with caffeine. I am not versed on the neuroscience behind it, but both of those can kill brain cells regardless of the presence of Alzheimer's or cancer. If you frequently get headaches and also drink caffeinated beverages that have aspartame, then there could be a causal relationship between the two.

My anatomy professor told us this, though I can't remember what the rationale was behind it. They mentioned that both caffeine and aspartame are required. Obviously take it with a grain or two of salt. They said that is the reason why some people who consistently drink diet coke have constant headaches. I'll try to support or debunk that claim a bit later when I have time.

So avoid the ones with aspartame, quite a few use acesulfame potassium instead. I used to get migraines from aspartame and Ace-k does not cause any issues.
