Except the effectiveness of lamotrigine on Bipolar Type 1 pretty much proves that mental illness can be directly and thoroughly treated - with nothing more than some light psychotherapy and a couple pills per day. Antipsychotics also have clearly observable, immediate effects on the manic and schizophrenic. They make me feel like shit though so I don't trust them.
