I don't get the point of this - what will practically occur other than shifting the Air Force's Space Command to its own branch? This creates a lot of administrative BS too - what uniforms will they wear? Will they have a PT test? Where will their basic training be and what will it consist of? Other than creating new Pentagon bureaucracy I don't see what this achieves

They already receive Pentagon money via the Air Force. A large amount of SpaceX contracting has been through the Air Force and a lot of their launches are from Air Force Space Command facilities. That's why I'm confused - this really just seems to be shifting something that already exists into its own branch which only creates more bureaucracy

Newton's third law states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Stand on a platform in space, throw a baseball in any direction.

You'll find you will begin to move in the direction opposite to where you threw the ball. The acceleration you experience will be proportional to the ratio of the baseballs mass over you and the platform.

Force is the derivative of momentum is the best way to formulate everything above.

>> No.9818341

Unless the government is holding out on some serious technology we are at least several centuries too early for such a dedicated military branch. The Army, Navy and Airforce all are built upon foundations of practical logistics/ engineering for thousands of years throughout multiple cultures.

And while observation of space bodies are just as old. Actual advance observation let alone travel and testing in space is only a little over half a century old. It's grandstanding for the sake of creating a legacy. And will be either trashed in the next decade or consumed by the Airforce.

I'd add that the guy who wrote this is the guy who got paid a shitload of tax dollars, by those who make war for a living, to lay out a plan for them to make money. This is the closest thing you can buy to a playbook for warhawks, and the military industrial complex they feed.

Either that or he pitched the ideas to them, and they said no thanks but it would make a nice book.

Except these models are all wrong.. They fail to take into account that we now have the technology to view subjective human experiences. Thoughts, dreams etc.

The fact we can now view, modify and interact with your thoughts and dreams changes everything.. The abuse potential is obviously astronomical but if used correctly these technologies could transform the way we learn. Being able transmit not just knowledge but experiential wisdom would change everything.. It would accelerate progress and development in ways we can't yet imagine.

Space is the ultimate high ground. No one can allow the Chinese to get there first with military. Not even Russia can allow that. To bad it probably won't go anywhere.
