How did you overcome the despair in your life, after so much soul searching for the reason for my sadness I've come to know a term in Islam "Danaq" ضنك it basically refers to the case of someone experiencing despair, sadness, lack of direction, anger, hatefulness because of being away from Allah, this example describe my situation accurately but I am an Ex-Muslim and as much as I tried believeing I can't believe many of the bullshits in the book. But since the word I mentioned earlier stem of Islam, I can't for the love of Allah find any article about curing it without the good ol' "Go back to allah and pray more this is God punishing you for distancing thyself from him blabla bla", any ideas?

Do you have access to a park that isn't just an empty lot? A place where there are trees and nature sounds? Trying walking through there each morning or evening, without looking at your phone or your headphones in your ears.

As for OP, despair goes away when you realize you aren't here for any defined purpose. You're not supposed to follow anyone's rules of how to live your life. Stop worrying if you're playing the game correctly and enjoy the real-time 3D rendering of the world around you.

Your sadness has to stem from something other than "Danaq". Try finding a hobby you can get into. Try exercising too, it can be fun, and improves your mood + body. Maybe you'll find out why you're sad through one of these.
