Should female students be given extra time on exams and their lowest mark dropped at the end of each semester in order to balance out their disadvantage (traditional condition of having a lack of privilege/being oppressed by the male students) and increase the number of women in STEM? Current exam times of 3 hours are not enough because women suffer from imposter syndrome and exam anxiety due to sexism. It is a proven fact that many women are driven out by first year "weeder" courses designed to bully representatives of minorities and underprivileged groups into dropping out of STEM. In order to put an end to this, we need to make accomodations for women to make them feel more welcome.

STEM is a tier of discipline. STEAM is an appropriation of the term by schools to describe a curriculum. Educators have never tried to assert that art is the same difficulty if discipline - it's just nicking a fucking term to try to describe the important bases they attempt to cover with their core curriculum.

The reasons why Europeans and , also Asians, are smarter than peoples from say Africa is all due to natural selection. African environments give no incentive to produce intelligent human beings because there is no natural pressure of brutal winters. All year round Africans had access to food and shelter while in Europe, especially during the last ice age, the humans there had to deal with freezing temperatures and no food. This caused only the intelligent who became creative in building and engineering ways to ration food and build shelters capable of withstanding the cold to survive and this spread their genes. Africans have no abstract thinking that whites have. Hell, Africans have no concept of time, they even have a saying called "African time".

Also, time plays a role. The Inuits haven't been in their climate as long as the Indo-Europeans have been in theirs.

The claim that merely existing in a cold climate means you are smarter than those in a warmer climate may occasionally be false, but it would also be false to say that Human Group X who lived and evolved in a cold, seasonal world for 50,000 years is going to emerge the exact same as Human Group Y who lived in a tropical zone. I suggest we lock asian and white students in spiked cages while they take exams. They would have to be nude for maximum effectiveness. That way they can feel the same kind of pressure that women and minorities feels. The cage is a metaphor for the system working against them. Also, you may have to electrify it. Everyone should be given as much time as they require to complete the test, time limits only encourage rushing and sloppiness, which reduces performance. Time taken should just be noted along with the grade for quality of work done, those who are competitive and driven will try for lower times anyways while those who are slower and less competitive will feel no need to hurry and produce lower scores as a result.
