is racism

these women are, arguably, on the same level as Newton and Einstein and yet are not praised as such

Um...Remember the name of the guy who wrote GNU? No, huh, there are a lot of supergeniuses we don't know in the USA. Being smart is stupid. Just write a catchy tune that'll sell some sneakers and try not to piss off the CIA and you'll be just fine. As far as racism in the sciences, um . . . 59 people were just slaughtered because some cult wants to steal their land and build condos on the mass graves. There are bigger problems to wine about on the internet.

It's contrived leftist garbage that plays fast and loose with historic facts. Feel good oscar bait at it's finest.
Every white male in the film is depicted as an asshole (except one) as if institutions like NASA were full of racists even back then.
While its true that there was a scramble after WW2 to nab Nazi scientists like Wernher von Braughn- the man responsible for putting people on the moon, the fact is that NASA was still hiring Oprah like black woman in the first place.
Watch it and then do some research that isn't buzzfeef

The fact that people pay for this sniveling drivel of a movie is itself telling a story, one of media bias and political activism in day-to-day life.
The soft bigotry of low expectations, cognitive dissonance at a sociopolitical level, and the abject denial of universal human rights in favor of emotional vanguarding plague this era in human history.

They weren't.
When NASA was formed in 1958 IT WAS NOT SEGREGATED AND ACTIVELY HIRED BLACKS.
NASA in the 1960s was actually a tool for desegregation. Already when he was the Senate Majority leader, Lyndon Johnson saw NASA as a way to advance blacks by hiring and promoting them into better-paying and more respectable positions.
No separate bathrooms, No evil wypipo blocking promotions, no white men making snide remarks or giving dirty looks.
The movie is leftist drivel. Now go back to your safe space

Do you know this for a fact? Did you work at NASA? I've seen black people rejected from schools and universities entirely based on race IN 2014 and all the white people they've told about have literally told them this was not only untrue, but impossible. I also didn't believe this until I saw proof, which makes me want to ask again Do you know this for a fact? Did you work at NASA? If so, did you have close relationships with all the black people at all times always knowing how they were treated? This is a very sincere question.

Kill yourself you dishonest fucking cunt.
What you mean is when NACA changed their name to NASA, they desegregated.
The real-life setting of "Hidden Figures" is NACA in the 40's and 50's.
The movie warps and compresses timelines, and combines multiple real-life people into single characters, etc. Wouldn't be the first movie to do this and it won't be the last.

Serious question (/pol/-tards need not reply).
Weren't they mostly responsible for performing calculations with pencil and paper?

>> No.9745233

>>9745208
Comparing them to Newton and Einstein is just /pol/ trolling, or someone mocking the guys that FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE desu
They weren't theoretical giants that ushered in, or would have ushered in new paradigms of thinking. The story is essentially "about" the rank and file STEM workers and managers in major public agencies and industry that faced obstacles in their careers due to race issues. But the press wants their tacky soundbite, "racism kept the black einstein from us!"
Really the life and times of the average worker is a better barometer for the era than the story of the exceptional. Because they tend to be exceptions.

One white astronaut and two black clerical workers.
The girls were so much appreciated for their "services" that the astronauts would insist on them doing work for them.
