in my experience the students who struggle most with math either aren't studying hard enough, or don't correctly perceive the problem, or have a developmental disorder (eg fetal alcohol spectrum disorder).

If you're not diagnosed with a learning disability I would try following online lectures, then doing textbook problems, and taking it as seriously as you would a real class that you care about. Either things will just click as you go and it'll get way easier, or, you'll decide you find the challenge not rewarding enough to really care about pursuing it further.

In other words: if you´re too dumb for math, you will naturally stray away from studying it in more depth than is necessary for everyday tasks or finishing an academic degree.

I think it's important to stress that most things can and honestly should demand a lot of hard work to excel at (otherwise you're not doing anything meaningful), so I think a good mindset to encourage is that it's okay to struggle with math. What's important is that, if you hit a wall, you still feel a desire to improve and take real steps to get better results.

mathematics is a thing to mature into and to get used to. it also gets significantly easier the more you are able to connect the dots from different subfields.

take this as someone who had a 6 year gap in his math education after high school before entering a STEM degree and basically having to relearn everything.

just pick up a programming book for beginners, preferably with exercises, then move on to more advanced books (including methodology, algorithms and design patterns, to some extent at least) and do small programming projects. this is more than enough for a junior position

As soon as you decide that you're going to put in enough effort to understand math, you won't break this barrier. But once you do, each new success will be your next motovation, your next new foundation upon which you build the rest of your math skills. Try reading your math book. Do problems.
