I haven't done any mathematics for 1.5 years and have forgotten loads of it. Is this normal or am I a brainlet? My level wasn't particularly high (calc 2, combinatorics, complex numbers, sequences, etc), but I've basically forgotten most of it, beyond the most basic elements like algebraic manipulation and other types of manipulation.

Haven't done any arithmetic in almost 2 years, still remember how to solve a Diophantine equation or calculate a modular inverse. Happy?

If with some effort you’re still unable to independently derive what you’ve forgotten... then yes

I haven't done any arithmetic beyond simple computations for longer than I can remember and I can still remember that too. So no, I'm not happy.

I'd probably need to go over some problems, then sure.

Yeah, I literally forgot all of calculus and most probability theory about five years after undergrad. Later I took a few actuarial exams and had to budget a few weeks relearning/memorizing things.

Can you still understand some worked examples, even if you can't immediately recall the techniques yourself? Do you still remember general concepts (fundamental theorem of calculus)?

Maths is very much use-it-or-lose-it; it's perfectly normal to forget details and lose your fluency when you haven't solved any equations in a long time. But you will normally find that you can re-learn/de-rust much faster than the first time round.
