I have a question for the science people here on this board, I know it's pretty general but, do you think the future looks bright or bleak?

Depends on how far into the future you mean. The ultimate future of our species is definite destruction because the sun will explode or go out.

>If aliens exist (extremely likely) they will be cunts and kill us.
>If AI gets too intelligent it will turn into a cunt and kill us.
>Global warming, sorry, "climate change" will kill us unless we give loads of money to renewable energy companies.
>Humans are cunts destined to destroy the world with nukes (which are real), which is why we need to focus on getting to Mars (which is a real, physical planet as NASA have proven without question).
>If we don't destroy ourselves, then a meteor, volcano, black hole, or the inevitable heat death of the universe will happily oblige.
>We're evolved slime with no free will. 100% star dust and proud.

Despite these scientific facts, I remain cool and logical. My intelligence doth not succumb to primitive emotions or faith based beliefs.

This ain't a game for the weak, kid, stay out if you ain't got the guts and admire those that do.

We will proceed with automation and due to lack of jobs, guaranteed a UBI at some point. This will radically alter our society.

In addition, space will become more and more our domain as we explore out there and exploit resources. Jeff Bezos want heavy industry in space instead of polluting the planet. musk wants us on Mars, etc.

So here is what I think, with a UBI and significantly fewer jobs, certain trends of the industrial revolution will undo themselves. namely, the whole slavery thing. by that I mean everyone who has to work for somebody in order to support themselves is a wage slave, some wage slaves are paid more than others. People will want to work just to make more money, not because they need to. Also with this new security, more and more people will pursue passion projects and making stuff to sell for themselves, because homemade quality beats whatever factory-farms or orbiting manufacturing produces. And thus farming and craftsmanship becomes an available way to get more money in a society with few jobs. This will undermine much of the industrial giants, especially the beef producers, who now have a wave of grass fed small-farm competition in addition to deathless meat produced in a factory from grown cells. This will greatly reduce the feed-lot style of beef farm production

Think about all the diary farmers currently being royally fucked by big milk giants dominating the market? same thing for eggs, milk, cheese, honey. Small yeoman farmers and craftsmen, eating away at the big companies who can no longer control the populace like they did when they cleared the Highlands and sent countless disposed farmers into factories and mines in the industrial revolution. We need to significantly undo the industrial revolution. We may not even need the UBI anymore after a point. No more dole and no more wage slavery, and a cleaner earth.

Expect that you have to work 40 hours a week at a <Insert Gruelling Human Torture Factory> in order to enjoy 20 hours of VR.

With humanoids, you have to GIVE to GET.

It's the best economic policy there can be. It's not economics keeping it down, it's power and politics. Beef industry again is a huge player.

UBI is a terrible idea by itself.

>Everyone gets UBI but then all other welfare gets obliterated
>Inflation goes up because of more spending in the lower brackets
>Employers have an excuse to keep wages low and disinvest in employees' wellbeing/benefits
>Say goodbye to pension contributions and health insurance
>Taxes go up to support the UBI scheme, NEETs will be paying higher taxes proportionally than high-earners
>Everyone will still be working 40 hour weeks, because the wrong shit will be automated and bullshit jobs will remain due to an entrenched class of middle management and /biz/nessmen
