Is funny because it's true.
Einstein, Feynman, Stephen Hawkins and many other Physicists intruded in other fields.

Feynman for example shitted on NASA engineers when the space shuttle blown up.

Physicists that deny global warming are:
Freeman Dyson (Princeton),
Ivar Giaever (nobel),
Denis Rancor (Ottawa U)
Steven E. Koonin (NY U),
Khabibullo Abdussamatov (Russia academy of Sciences),
Sallie Baliunas (Harvard),
David Douglass (Rochester U),
William Happier (Princeton),
Nicola Scafetta (Duke U) ,
Willie Soon (Harvard) ,
Henrik Svensmark ( Danish National Space Center)
and many more

There are two parts to a credible "scientific consensus":
1) general agreement among specialists in the field that the claim is correct,
2) general agreement among scientists in other fields that the scientists in this particular field are reliable when making such claims.

There is a consensus of climatologists that global warming is real, man-made, and a serious danger. There is no consensus of the scientific community that climatologists could tell their ass from a hole in the ground.

The scientists that don't consider climatologists sufficiently competent and honest to be relied upon to make the statement that AGW is real and dangerous are either a large minority or a majority. They're certainly not some marginal group that can be dismissed as opposing a consensus.

Feynman gave a practical view as to why the challenger exploded, which was a concer even a lot of folk in NAZA had, that's not really intruding in any field, cold materials contract, that's undergrad thermodynamics. I don't know what you are saying with Einstein and Hawkings.

Also, that's not many, and a lot you listed don't deny it per se, but deny the predictive power of certain models as to how fucked the earth coukd get and it is still a minority in the physics community.

What are you basing that on? IIRC, outside of groups like petroleum engineers most scientific fields have pretty broad agreement on AGW.
If what you were saying was true we'd see physicist organizations putting out statements rejecting climate change. Instead the reverse has happened. For instance, from the American Physical Society:
https://www.aps.org/policy/statements/15_3.cfm
>While natural sources of climate variability are significant, multiple lines of evidence indicate that human influences have had an increasingly dominant effect on global climate warming observed since the mid-twentieth century.

Scientists don't generally speak through their organizations. Those organizations are political, not scientific.

What parameters do you believe are sufficient to distinguish between politcal societies and scientific ones? How on earth is the APS a political organization? It doesn't matter, because we're not talking about a "consensus of scientific organizations". Only individual members of the scientific community matter.

maybe free of cost, but what is the point of it if nobody can learn from how it works?
Is it just a simulation for people to jerk off to the visuals of?
Nobody can read the source to see how it works and learn from that
Maybe if it was a productivity-program say for 3D modelling or audio editing where there is "competition" and "hiding away" how your program works because of "muh trade sekrits", there might be some argument

lets throw in some calculus:
two infinite groups of mathematicians walk into a bar. the first group begins with the scientist saying: "I'll have one glass of beer." the second says "I'll have a half of a glass", the third "I'll have a quarter"
The bartender fills two glasses and says to the other "i know this joke, let them have it. you just fill two glasses when the amount starts decreasing."
the second bartender who has to serve the second group of infinite mathematicians thinks: alright, this should be easy. and so it begins:
the first one says "i'll have a full glass pls"
the second one says "i'll have a half of a glass"
the bartender alreary starts pouring the two drinks, but suddenly the third proclaims:
"One third of a glass please."
"Oh fuck you."

You only server to prove my point.. The black hole in interstellar should have looked more like bottom pick than top pick because of its spin, the choose the more artistic visual so it would be less confusing and more impactful for the audience. Now I don't know the spin speed of that black hole from the space engine pic >>9669157, but it was made to look like the black hole calculated by the astrophysicists hired for interstellar, the people actually making universe simulators, which need to run on super computers. The actually impressive stuff. Sure, space engine does a good job keeping it around 1GB, but it looks like mostly the look is from shaders, not textures, which is what bloats games anyway. The actual science and simulation was all figured out elsewhere and just ported into the game. When the star catalog is updated, space engine updates to match. When a new astrophysics discovery is made, space engine is again updated to match. It isn't simulating the universe, it is modifying a simulation to mirror the universe. Space engine doesn't predict where new planets will be found, ACTUAL simulators do that.

http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/0264-9381/32/6/065001/meta

Link to PDF from interstellar. Page 22 they say they used the visual of the slower spinning black hole instead of the one for the high spin black hole needed for the plot.

I never claimed other space games look better. I claimed space engine is no more impressive than other games in general.

We should do something about it since catastrophe is inevitable whether it has to do with the climate or not.

Yes he did, he just carefully worded his denial to make it sound like a "moderate" stance.

Claiming that "the climate has always been changing" is deliberately misleading - it's technically true, but obscures the rate of change, which is what is important. The"not spectacular" approaches he advocates for aren't nearly sufficient, and only address the symptoms and not the cause. He admits "we're having some impact on the climate", but ignores that the impact is close to 100% of the observed changes.

How are we effecting the environment? By releasing massive amounts of CO2, which causes what? Warming, not cooling. Yaaaaaaay you did it, I'm so proud of you!

The fact that you can't even recognize climate change denial as climate change denial just shows how delusional deniers are.

Here's what I heard:

We are effecting the environment. We don't know if we're heating it or cooling it and we don't know whether heating it or cooling it males thongs better or worse.
Independent of our actions, the environment is changing. We dont know how much is or isn't us, but we know that a lot of it isn't. Or models aren't good enough to predict what will happen or to explain many historical changes.
Limiting changes is difficult and expensive; further, it is difficult to evaluate. Limiting damages is easy to do, easy to evaluate, (relatively) inexpensive, and needs to happen anyways.

And he tip-toes around it, but "activists" getting rich off of "limiting changes" is a big issue (middle-men inventing new niches to leech money is an issue in general really).
Like those "diversity trainers" companies hire that have been shown to increase discrimination against the groups they advocate for.

Wrong. "Global worming" will cause deserts to become lush as plant respiration looses less water at higher CO2 levels and warmer temperatures leads to increased global rainfall.

Carbon is used in the construction of shells, most shelled organisms have stronger shells even at 900ppm co2 levels (200 year predicted levels). You dont really start seeing problems for most of them untell you reach the ludicrous levels of 2800+ ppm of co2, even then some species (like crabs and lobsters) thrive with the strongest shells ever seen.

Trips of retardation. Hindsight is 20/20, a few hundred years ago some catholic dude was crossbreeding 10,000 pea plants and we can laugh at him now because obviously blending is not a viable method of genetic inheritance in eukaryotic cells

Are you fucking dumb Mendel was a genius. And Darwin was retarded for not listening to him. But Watson did fuck all for anyone.

I won't kick his 80 year old ass with ZERO remorse.
You hear that, important people? Yeah I just threatened Watson.

Knowing nothing about history won't do shit for your career, normie.
Watson himself admitted they mistreated Franklin and didn't take her seriously because of her gender. He actually admitted that, and Wilkins admitted to being frustrated with her perfectionism and sharing her results with Watson against her consent.

A scientist has the right to confirm their studies, moron.

What are you fucking saying? Watson and Crick literally played with cardboard and wire before they saw the King's College x-rays. then they played with bits of metal and made another fucking DNA model.

All they did was publish everyone else's work in the right order first. I'll concede they appropriately observed semi-conservative replication, but they couldn't even prove it.

>> No.9675131

>>9675127
Exactly but they figured out the final shape of DNA anyway, which is groundbreaking considering the times but is fucking insignificant in modern times. Like most discoveries.

That's the whole reason scientific special interest groups exist, they realize how irrelevant past scientists are and they want to preserve their memory before rational catches up with them.
I say fuck it. Rationality is the way.

What makes me especially angry is when people who are scientists with no knowledge on history try and act like an ultimate authority on history. Especially when they're pop-sci fags (almost always is)
Anyone have that screencap with black science man and the italian cathedrals?

What does \sci\ think of Lang's Algebra? I have personally read it cover-to-cover and have enjoyed it so, but some people hate it with their entire being. I never understood the hate of Lang's style, especially when his writings are much clearer than anything else I have read in Algebra

True

because in almost every category most far leftists in history have seriously fucked everything they touched because of how far out of reality they are. same can be said of extreme far right wing, however when both are present it either balances with a lean to one side, or its a blood bath, i digress. Just from my experience with anyone left of where the "classical" liberal usually sits, goes off the deep end very rapidly of emotional justification. the psyche of the person discussed (in this case, climate scientists in universities) will show heavily in their work. Someone who grows up in an area with violent black gangs, will ignore the upstanding black people who make something of themselves because it does not fit their world view, someone who has an idealized vision of an all green, eco friendly earth, who grew up in a first world country, will be biased towards thinking the current standard of living can be maintained even through implementing their all green policies to avert some unconfirmed disaster. Geological record shows plenty of heating and cooldown over the past couple millenia. only one that mayyy have had something to do with a collapse of civilization for sure was the roman warm period from fucking up crop cycles leading to the civil unrest talked about during that time.
