Explain to me why I can't do this

>> No.9661504

It doesnt preserve the ratio

U right. The earth is flat !

Because 90 isn't equal to 9 you gigantic fucking dumbas in need of a gassing ?

you retard you write multiplication signs between numbers
(6*9)/(9*6) does work: =6/6=1

lmao nigga the only cases you can cancel digits like an incel and it works is only
26/65 = 2/5
19/95 = 1/5
26/65 = 2/5
49/98 = 4/8 = 1/2

Because 69 isn't equal to 60*9, and even if it were, 90/9 isn't 1.

That's how I though of it. In my mind it was "because the relationship between 9 and 6 is wrong for op's idea to work" as an initial thought, and then further extrapolated, you would have to break the number down somewhat like >>9661639, but i thought of it like 96 = ( 9 * 10 ) +6 .

feel free to laugh at me those with larger lobes than i.

also, 60 + 9 isn't the same thing as 6 times 9

Oh, but you can, if that's supposed to be 9 times 6 divided by 6 times 9.

Most simply, because that is not one of the allowed moves. Math and mathematical formalism defines certain moves which are permitted, by fiat, and we can then derive more moves which are composites of other moves, and it can be shown that this sort of move is not a possible result of the basic moves.

96/69 has a value. Just crossing out random numbers means literally nothing. As long as the ratio is the same you are fine to manipulate it and have it equal the same thing. If you cut a pizza in half you can have 1 slice and you will have 1/2 of the pizza. Cut it in half again and have two slices you will have 2/4 but still the same amount of pizza. But if you have 1 tenth of the pizza and cross out the 1s on top and bottom 1/10 ->0/0. It doesnt make sense and you arent having the same value
