The energy output of a single hypernova is about equal to the complete conversion of the mass of proxima centauri into energy, so I'm going to say no to that one. Especially considering stars don't achieve very high efficiency of conversion of mass into energy, less than a percent.

Stars burn fuel for energy, a star with 100x as much fuel as a red dwarf will life way less time but will convert much more fuel to energy.
