Is it possible to make each individual folder in Windows Explorer have a specific "view setting"?

Like say when I open my "Pictures" folder I want to see everything in the "details" view setting. But when I open up my the subfolder "Maps" I want to see everything in "large icons" form.

So is there anyway to save these view settings so I'm not constantly retoggling them depending on which folder I'm currently viewing?

For me it seems to always default back to different view settings randomly. I constantly find myself having to retoggle it to what I want it to be.

To elaborate a little more...

Say I open my pictures folder and it's in details -- which is want I want. Then I open the SUBfolder called maps and it is also in details -- which I don't want. So I retoggle the maps SUBfolder to be in large icon form. The problem is that when I go back to the pictures folder it has also be switched to large icon form while I want it to stay in details form.

Understand what I'm saying? I want pictures to be in details form but maps to be in large icons form; however, when I change on it also seems to change the other.

Doesn't do that for me. Try unchecking the box that says "apply to all folders" or whatever.

i dont know how it works in 7, but in xp somewhere there is a check box to "remember folder view settings" but it only stores a certain amount of folders, like 1000 or something, but there is a registry hack to change that.
