Once when I was a kid I cut a wire with a plug off an old appliance and stripped the end then hooked it up to two nails put it a plastic container of saltwater. Then I plugged it in.
I was a stupid kid, and I'm still stupid. I guess I isn't a meme.

So what happened? Did the water boil? Did it arc? Did you get electrocuted? t. bainlet

It arced like crazy and melted halfway through the container.
I was trying to do hydrolysis and/or mass produce iron oxide for thermite
I did get a lot of iron oxide in the water so it kind of a success but I quit the project after that.

Science turns superhero as it battles to save the planet and preserve the human race. In California, physicist Jim
Al-Khalili sees how the power of the world's largest laser could create a fuel to answer all our needs.
Science as superhero? They can't turn up the propaganda any more: the volume is already on
maximum. But the analogy is empty, since these superhero scientists can't even do basic math
anymore, much less save the planet.

The guy who prepared this got the scholarship:
The Effects of Electrical Discharge Plasma Treatment on Cellular Growth and Wound Healing
>You prepare a paper about plasma treatment and wound healing, while the germans win with a glowing pickle.
